Job summary

Norwood is seeking dedicated Support Workers to assist adults with complex needs in a residential setting. You’ll deliver person-centred care, build trusting relationships, and help individuals live meaningful lives with dignity, choice and independence.

Your day-to-day includes supporting personal routines, encouraging life skills, enabling hobbies, accompanying health appointments, and collaborating with the Physical Activity Practitioner in the hydrotherapy pool.

Responsibilities

• Support people with personal routines including personal care and meals
• Encourage independence through life skills like budgeting, shopping and social outings
• Help people enjoy hobbies and interests: swimming, music, arts and outdoor activities
• Accompany residents to health appointments and trips out
• Work closely with our Physical Activity Practitioner, including in the hydrotherapy pool
• Contribute to household tasks and maintain a welcoming home environment
• Use a range of communication methods (Makaton, objects of reference, expressions)
• Drive the home vehicle for activities and appointments
