Job description

Location: Taunton

Contract: Full Time

Role Type: Permanent

Working hours per week: 40

Overview

From the moment you open the door and enter one of our services you become something more than you once were. You enter the place our young people call home, a place where a grin can make a young person’s day, where listening can not only save but shape a life, a place whereby simply turning up on time and being present has a bigger impact than it does anywhere else. Walking through the door at Cambian means having a direct impact on the futures of the young people in our care.

Our Residential Care Workers are fundamental to the development of the young people in our homes, yes there will be challenges along the way, there will be crippling lows and immeasurable highs but every forward step is a cause for celebration and a simple “well done” goes a long way too. Our homes accommodate young people aged 8-18 from a variety of backgrounds and with varying levels of social, emotional and mental health needs. Our aim is to create the best possible outcomes for them to allow every single one of them to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

Every day you will ensure the young people are up and ready for the day, whether that means ready for school or a morning at the park. You will help keep the service feeling like “home” by running the hoover, helping with homework, preparing dinner and organising evening and weekend activities such as video games, board games or trips to see a movie. You will support them in a meaningful way, ensuring minimum interruption to their lives, keeping up with paperwork and planning, and using daily care recording systems to document, monitor and update their records accurately.

Qualifications

All applicants must be willing to undergo an enhanced DBS check and must be able to provide at least two references covering the past two years, including all positions related to working with children and the vulnerable, and details of employment back to full time education. New staff must be comfortable using an electronic care recording system on a daily basis; experience with Clearcare is an advantage but not essential. All staff must confidently use digital systems as part of their day-to-day role.
