Job summary

Athens Services is seeking a Driver – Class C (Scout and/or Backyard Service) to safely operate a pickup truck with a hydraulic fork system and/or dump containers for residential and commercial customers. The role ensures compliance with transportation regulations while maintaining service quality and route efficiency.

The driver will perform inspections, report incidents, coordinate with dispatch and route supervisors, and help keep customer sites clean.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and a valid Class C driver’s license.
• Must have an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to perform physical requirements with/without accommodations.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate a pickup truck with hydraulic fork system and/or dump containers.
• Perform pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Communicate with Dispatch or Route Supervisor about issues and requests.
• Dump all containers and leave customer locations clean and debris-free.
• Assist other drivers to complete routes as needed.

Summary

Summary The Driver – Class C (Scout and/or Backyard Service) is responsible for safely operating a pick‑up truck paired with a hydraulic powered fork system and/or dump containers which are used to perform assigned duties on container pick-up, delivery, disposal, and recycling, of residential and commercial customers. This position is responsible for efficiently servicing assigned customers, while complying with all local, state, and federal transportation regulations and with Company policies.

Job Description

Maintains a safe and clean working vehicle. Performs pre- and post-trip inspections of assigned vehicle. Reports any unsafe situations or service calls before attempting service. Participates and cooperates in all scheduled training, briefings, and safety meetings. Works closely with Route Supervisors to improve route efficiencies & identify problem or unsafe accounts. Notifies Route Supervisor of any incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage. Reports blocked containers, potential missed pick‑ups or problems that arise on the route. Communicates customer requests or issues to Dispatch or Route Supervisor. Completely dumps all containers and leaves the customer’s location clean and free of debris. Positions containers on the customer’s property in a correct manner during delivery. Extracts containers in a safe and efficient manner during route. Follows route assignments throughout the day and completes all documentation when checking-in. Provides a positive professional customer attitude when dealing with customers. Assists other drivers in completing routes as directed.

Required Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Valid Class C Driver’s License.
• Acceptable driving record.
• (H-6 printout will be requested) Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bilingual English / Spanish
• Work experience in the waste, environmental services, energy, or transportation industry.

• Bending, reaching, stretching, foot (pedaling) and lifting ≤ 50 Lbs. frequently.

• Exposure to dust, smoke, fumes, odors, grease, oil, chemicals, wet/hot conditions, & noise continuously.
• Works outside only.

Schedule

Monday - Saturday 5am - 5pm

Salary

$24.64 - $26.14 hourly
