Why Jackson:Holtz Children's Hospital at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Medical Center is one of the largest pediatric hospitals in the southeast United States, where UHealth - University of Miami Health System physicians treat children from throughout Florida and the Caribbean. Holtz Children's is known worldwide for its care of critically ill newborns in its neonatal intensive care unit, which is one of the largest in the United States and boasts some of the best medical outcomes. In collaboration with the Miami Transplant Institute, Holtz Children's is one of only three centers in the country that specializes in pediatric multi-organ transplants. It is home to one of only three state-accredited comprehensive children's kidney failure centers and one of the largest pediatric kidney transplant programs in the world. The Children's Heart Center at Holtz Children's is the only comprehensive children's heart program in South Florida. In partnership with the University of Miami, Holtz Children's also trains the most pediatric physicians of any medical center in the southeastern United States.

Summary

  • The Support Technician assists the clinical team members in the delivery of a single standard of care. Responsibilities will include: ordering, receiving, inventorying, issuing and delivering of medical/surgical supplies, equipment, and procedure trays to all areas within the Critical Care Division utilizing automated and non-automated supply and distribution systems.

Responsibilities

  • Manages all supplies and equipment in the unit/area.
  • Ensures current preventive maintenance of equipment in unit/area.
  • Sends equipment to appropriate departments for maintenance and repair.
  • Tracks progress and return of items.
  • Keeps equipment securely stocked, available (including storage room) and maintains logs for equipment.
  • Troubleshoots issues with monitors, beds, another equipment. Works closely with Biomed and Engineering to maintain equipment and physical units. On a daily basis, inventories equipment location using the aware point system and runs location reports.
  • Works with equipment representative from various vendors.
  • Works closely with Value Analysis Team/procurement to bring in new items.
  • Prepares bills and invoices in Lawson. Handles shipment, delivery, and stocking of equipment/supplies.
  • Checks the quality of goods received for damages.
  • Maintains Omnicell supplies by adding and modifying products.
  • Maintains specialty trays used in units (bronchoscope, open chest tray, etc.).
  • Answers requests for routine information involving: divisional activities, policies, and procedures.
  • Orders and maintains all monitor cables.
  • Works closely with Nurse Managers, Directors, ACNO, and CNO to place supply, equipment, and capital orders.
  • Assists with IV pumps and beds.
  • Places equipment orders for the Critical Care Division.
  • Participates in environment of care rounds.
  • Places and follows up on work orders.
  • Delivers in-services to staff, as directed.
  • Demonstrates behaviors of service excellence and CARE values (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Expertise). Performs all other related job duties as assigned.

Experience

Generally requires 0 to 3 years of related experience.

Education

High School diploma is required.

Credentials

Valid Florida Nursing Assistance Certificate preferred. American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) and any additional applicable life support certification for Healthcare Providers is required upon hire with at least 6 months validity and maintenance at JHS for the duration of employment.
