Overview

Part time 20 hours/week | Variable

The support tech functions under the supervision of the Registered Nurse serving the unit in two distinct roles according to assignment. In a priority role, the support tech serves as a mobility assistant, working with the registered nurse to optimize patient mobility using specialized patient lifting equipment. In a second capacity, the support tech manages the unit desk, handling nurse call system needs, answering telephones, stocking supplies and equipment, filing, and maintaining a clean environment. The support tech provides nursing support to help achieve the organization's mission of excellent patient care and nursing's vision of setting a new standard of autonomous and accountable nursing practice, committed to patient advocacy and innovative care in a climate of trust and collaboration.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Demonstrated computer experience.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Excellent public contact skills (respect, courtesy, tact).
• Problem-solving, prioritization, initiative.
• Dependability, teamwork, independence.
• Understanding of medical terminology.
• Previous clerical or nursing assistant experience preferred.
• College degree preferred.

Motor Vehicle Operator Designation: Will not operate vehicles for assigned purposes.
