  • Licensed Required: ELS(PARA), SUB, or PEL
  • Supervisor: Assistant Principal of Operations
Pay and Benefits
  • Rate of Pay: $19.59 per hour (up to $1,200 bonus)

Position Summary

The qualified candidate will perform duties and responsibilities necessary to support the assigned area.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Paraprofessional Approval (State and Federal) required for Special Education Assistant.
  • Neat, thorough, industrious with knowledge of school procedures.
  • Good communication skills; ability to work well with students and staff.
  • Ability to handle difficult situations with diplomacy and good judgment.
  • Basic organizational, clerical and computer skills; ability to operate office equipment.
  • Intermediate computer knowledge and troubleshooting skills (may be required).
  • Valid driver's license (may be required).
  • Musical accompaniment skills (may be required).
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Assist teacher with instructional and classroom management including attendance, inventory, lab scheduling and grading records.
  • Responsible for student supervision.
  • Assist or coordinate mandatory school testing (if applicable).
  • Assist students with hygiene needs (e.g., bathroom, dressing, diaper changes, feeding, grooming).
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisor.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Read, analyze and interpret documents and electronic media.
  • Write professional communications.
  • Communicate clearly and concisely.
  • Apply basic mathematics concepts.
  • Respond to questions from individuals and groups.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Familiarity with testing administration (instructional positions).
Physical Demands and Work Environment
  • Must sit regularly, talk and hear; stand, walk, operate equipment; repeat hand movements (typing).
  • Close vision and vision adjustment required; ability to use VDTs.
  • May lift up to 30 pounds (e.g., reference books).
  • Work pace is fast; noise level normally moderate.
  • Usually conducted at one site; occasional travel to other sites for meetings, conferences or events.
