About This Position

The department is comprised of four divisions: Management Services, Programming and Project Delivery, Street Maintenance, and Traffic Services.
The Right-of-Way (ROW) Management Section, within Traffic Services, is responsible for issuing construction permits, coordinating special events, Block Party permits, and Oversize/Overweight permits to authorize the restriction of the City's ROW. The ROW section is seeking a dynamic, organized and effective Support Services Aide who will be responsible for a variety of administrative duties to include performing relatively complex clerical and accounting work.
Responsibilities Include And Are Not Limited To
- Logging and processing information received from telephone and email correspondence.
- Handling inquiries from public officials, outside agencies, and businesses.
- Coordinating activities and events with other city departments and outside agencies to ensure continued service to both residents and city employees.
- Demonstrating superior customer service, integrity, and commitment to innovation, efficiency, and teamwork; analyzing operational processes.
IDEAL CANDIDATE
Knowledge Of/In
- Commercial insurance plans.
- Maps and City of Phoenix roadways.
- Office procedures (filing, business correspondence, answering phones, etc.) and equipment.
- Microsoft Office full suite of products.
- Organization, policies, and operating procedures of the department.
Ability To
- Use a personal computer and other common office equipment.
- Understand and follow moderately complex oral and written instructions in the English language.
- Exercise good judgment in making decisions.
- Work cooperatively with other City employees and the public.
- Learn job-related material primarily through oral instruction and observation. This learning takes place mainly in an on-the-job training setting.
- Produce written documents with clearly organized thoughts using proper sentence construction, punctuation, and grammar.
- Remain calm and effective under heavy workload and emergency situations.
SALARY
Pay Range: $20.92 to $35.78 per hour. Hiring Range: $20.92 to $29.44 per hour.

Minimum Qualifications
- Two years of responsible clerical work experience which provides the ability to maintain a variety of financial and related records, perform basic mathematical computations, operate base radios/telephone equipment.
- Other combinations of experience and education that meet the minimum requirements may be substituted
- All finalists for positions are subject to a criminal background check applicable to the department or position.
- Some positions require the use of personal or City vehicles on City business. Individuals must be physically capable of operating the vehicles safely, possess a valid driver's license and have an acceptable driving record. Use of a personal vehicle for City business will be prohibited if the employee is not authorized to drive a City vehicle or if the employee does not have personal insurance coverage.

Preferred Qualifications
The minimum qualifications listed above, plus:
- Two years of responsible clerical work experience.
- Two years of experience working with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel.
Experience With/in
- Maps and data entry.
- Customer service.
- Records retention.
- Commercial insurance plans or certificate of insurance (COI).
