Position Details
We are seeking an Experienced Support Nurse - LPN for a full-time day shift.
Responsibilities
- Assist in providing the best patient care by supporting nursing staff on the unit during assigned hours.
- Participate in staffing call coverage if required.
- Support resident care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse, following the Nursing Practice Act.
- Delegate duties to non-licensed staff and monitor their performance.
- Contribute to Quality Assurance data collection and analysis.
- Maintain infection control standards and cleanliness regulations.
- Assist with records, orders, and assessments for new admissions, ensuring initial nursing assessments are completed.
- Complete resident assessments as assigned.
- Attend departmental meetings as scheduled.
- Monitor and measure decubiti weekly, complete assessments, and collaborate with other departments to meet patient needs.
- Report performance issues and assist with disciplinary actions as directed by the RN.
- Assist with lab requests, review results, and notify physicians as needed.
- Respond to emergencies, perform CPR if necessary, and assist in emergencies on other units.
- Notify physicians of patient changes or emergencies and implement orders accordingly.
- Coordinate healthcare team activities, including duties of rehab aides.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Nursing, in accordance with NC Board of Nursing laws.
Minimum Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) license from an accredited program, valid in North Carolina, with proof of renewal.
- Ability to provide quality nursing care, follow medical orders, and demonstrate a genuine interest in geriatric nursing.
- Annual CPR certification and participation in required training and staff meetings.
- Ability to make decisions under pressure, problem-solve, and perform various tasks.
- Knowledge of policies, procedures, and legal regulations.
- Ability to maneuver nursing equipment and carts.
