Job summary

Golden Gate Regional Center Inc in San Francisco seeks a Support Living Specialist to enhance and oversee housing initiatives for people supported by the regional center, coordinating with community agencies and DDS to expand supported living options.

You will design systems, manage contracts and budgets, analyze regulations, and lead communications with staff, providers, and families to improve outcomes, compliance, and access to housing services.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related human services field.
• 2+ years in social services.
• Experience interpreting policies, procedures, legislation and regulations pertaining to regional center programs.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and implement an overall system of supported living options and evaluation processes.
• Liaise with local providers of supported living services and serve as a communications link with the Agency and providers.
• Coordinate with the Department of Developmental Services on issues regarding supported living services.
• Create cost comparison spreadsheets and analyze regulations and statutes.
• Draft revisions to Agency policies and guidelines and work with DDS to implement them.
• Participate in RFPs for housing providers and manage contracts with community partners.
• Lead internal and external communications to promote supported living initiatives.
• Facilitate cross-level communications to resolve issues and plan proactive solutions.
• Develop housing resources, recruit and contract with vendors, and establish startup budgeting and billing procedures.
• Present updates to Board and Senior Management on housing initiatives and participate in staff trainings.

Support Living Specialist

Starting Salary Range: $60,385 - $72,462

The Support Living Specialist works with community agencies to improve and increase Support Living Services and outcomes for the developmentally disabled through the creation and oversight of the Agency’s various housing initiatives for people supported by the regional center and provides guidance and assistance throughout the Agency and to Community Based Organizations (CBOs) to help provides appropriate housing options for interested supported individuals and their families.

Responsibilities

• Design, coordinate, and implement an overall specialized system of supported living options as well as the development of an evaluation process for follow-up and ongoing monitoring of programs
• Acts as liaison to local providers of supported living services, and serves as communication link between the Agency and the providers.
• Acts as liaison to the Department of Developmental Services for issues regarding supported living services.
• Create Cost comparison spreadsheets
• Analyze and apply existing and proposed statutes and regulations
• Draft revisions to Agency policies and guidelines and works with DDS to implement revised policies
• Participate in the RFP for potential new housing providers
• Implements internal and external communications strategies that promote and educate employees and the community regarding supported living services initiatives.
• Facilitate communications at all levels to solve problems and participate in planning of proactive solutions
• Coordinates supported living services for people supported with various community partners.
• Sets priorities, organizes workload, manages relevant contracts with community partners, and meets agreed upon deadlines.
• Shares related information and articles to staff and stakeholders as appropriate
• Draft written comments on proposed regulations
• Advise others on trends occurring within SLS
• Develops new housing resources
• Negotiate rates
• Recruit, screen, evaluate and contract with vendors
• Establish start-up budgeting and billing procedures

Agency Communication and Support

• Presents periodic updates to Board of Directors and Senior Management on housing initiatives.
• Attends Board, Service Providers and providers and meetings with Individuals Supported as needed.
• Coordinates with case management and administration staff regarding authorization of supported living services and service changes.
• Provides training to new employees and consults with staff regarding housing options.
• Contributes to Individual Service Plans for people supported who currently participates in housing services
• Responds to questions related to SLS regulations and interpretation of the regulations
• Prepares and sends required reports related to Supported Living Services within the Agency’s community
• May act as a witness in appeals
• Conducts New Hire and other training relevant to function to staff and community.
• Provides updates on related Performance Contract Measures as requested.

Community Involvement

• Implements internal and external communications strategies that promote and educate employees and the community regarding supported living services initiatives.
• Facilitate communications at all levels to solve problems and participate in planning of proactive solutions
• Serve as liaison to community organization including local government housing departments, non-profit housing development corporations, families/consumer groups interested in residential development
• Presents supported living services information to people supported, families, service providers and other stakeholders.
• Participate in special projects, and assist with additional duties or tasks, as assigned
• Maintain all client information as confidential in compliance with the federal Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA) and the California Lanterman Act

Education / Experience

• Master’s degree in Social Work or related human services field
• 2+ years in social services
• Experience in interpretation of policies, procedures, legislation and regulations pertaining to particular programs, including Regional Center Systems and Lanterman Developmental Disabilities Services Act desired
