Job description

As a Senior Support Engineer, you will be responsible for managing the audio system lab operation and assist systems team to carry out predefined system validation tests for various audio projects.

Roles and Responsibilities

• Schedules for maintenance, and/or repairs of test equipment, and collaborates with systems engineers on equipment issues, selection, and setup.
• Manages rework orders and performs minor PCB rework.
• Coordinate lab activities with systems engineers.
• Works with systems engineers across a wide range of areas and understands how to execute tests and collect data efficiently.
• Contributes to and implements test procedures in collaboration with systems engineers, based on high level requirements. Participates and provides feedback in test reviews.
• Executes test plans and collect data efficiently based on systems engineers instructions and requirements.
• Communicates across teams to provide status and information regarding obstacles and implements remediation to prevent future issues.
• Regularly determines what needs to be done and is involved with sharing innovative solutions to achieve broad policies and objectives.
• Most tasks require multiple steps which can be performed in various orders; Strong planning and prioritization must occur to complete the tasks effectively.
• Manages and understands teams project priorities, deadlines, and deliverables with minimum guidance.
• Normally receives general instructions on most work.

Qualifications

• Experience with reading schematic.
• Experienced working with specialized test equipment like oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, multimeters and other standard lab equipment, as well as loading and running complex programs or builds. Preferably familiar with Audio Precision Analyzer/Generator (APx585 / APx555).
• Experienced maintaining and organizing lab equipment and accessories.
• PCB rework skills.
• Hands on experience with setup and running equipment to include scopes, logic analyzer, multimeters, soldering station.
• Deductive and inductive problem solving is required; multiple approaches may be taken/necessary to solve the problem; attention to detail is a must.
• Works independently with little to no supervision in a lab environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Python desired.
• Bonus software experience: Audio processing software (Adobe Audition, Goldwave, Protools, etc.) Matlab.
• Audio specific bonus features: I2S interface, Microphone/speaker familiarity, FFT.
• Ability to setup and power up a system with required BIOS/FW images and parts socketed.
• Requires strong verbal and written communication skills to convey complex and/or detailed information to audiences.

Physical Requirements

• Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to mile.
• Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
• Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
• Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
• Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.

Work Experience

6+ year experience as electronics lab technician, testing, measurement, or related experience in electronics industry.

Education

Associates Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
