Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or related field.
• Experience testing robotic systems, actuators, and closed‑loop motion control systems.
• Hands‑on experience with encoders, force/torque sensors, accelerometers, DAQ equipment.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar data analysis and test-automation tools.
• Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and strong troubleshooting, documentation skills.

• Plan, configure, and execute motion performance tests on actuators, robotic arms, and multi-DOF systems.
• Operate robotic systems and test rigs using position, velocity, torque/force, and impedance/admittance control modes.

• Support mechanical and electrical integration, wiring, debugging, and bring‑up of new robotic prototypes.

Our client, a leading robotics and automation technology company, is seeking a Support Engineer III (Robotics & Motion Systems) to join their team. As a Support Engineer III, you will be part of the Robotics Test & Validation team supporting motion system testing, robotic hardware integration, and prototype development initiatives. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, hands‑on troubleshooting experience, and excellent cross‑functional collaboration abilities that will align successfully within the organization.

Job Title: Support Engineer III (Robotics & Motion Systems)

Location: North Reading, MA (Fully Onsite)

Pay Range: $40/hr.

Duration: 6-Month Contract (Possible Extension/Conversion)

• Operate robotic systems and test rigs using position, velocity, torque/force, and impedance/admittance control modes.
• Collect, analyze, and visualize test data to evaluate system performance and identify anomalies or regressions.
• Support mechanical and electrical integration, wiring, debugging, and bring‑up of new robotic prototypes.
• Collaborate with controls, firmware, software, and hardware engineering teams to troubleshoot issues and develop test procedures.

What's Needed?

• Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Robotics, or a related technical field.
• Experience testing robotic systems, actuators (servo motors, brushless DC motors, linear actuators), and closed‑loop motion control systems.
• Hands‑on experience with encoders, force/torque sensors, accelerometers, motion capture systems, and data acquisition (DAQ) equipment.
• Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, or similar scripting tools for data analysis, test automation, and post‑processing.
• Familiarity with Linux/UNIX environments and strong troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis, and documentation skills.
