General Summary

We are seeking an experienced Support Engineer to support and maintain internally developed test equipment across lab and production environments. This role involves hands‑on hardware work, RF cabling, system troubleshooting, and IT infrastructure support. The ideal candidate will have a solid technical foundation, strong problem‑solving skills, and the ability to operate independently while collaborating with cross‑functional teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Test Equipment Support & Maintenance
    • Install, configure, and maintain internally built test systems and platforms
    • Support system upgrades, modifications, and hardware integrations
  • Hardware & RF Work
    • Execute RF cabling, connector installation, and signal path verification
    • Perform hardware installations including installing system components in racks and hardware upgrades.
    • Troubleshoot RF and hardware‑related issues to ensure optimal system performance
  • Troubleshooting & Diagnostics
    • Diagnose system issues using Linux command line tools
    • Support issue resolution across hardware, software, and network layers
  • IT Infrastructure Support
    • Assist with maintenance and troubleshooting of servers, network switches, and lab IT systems
      • Determine if hardware is faulty and set up replacement hardware
    • Support system connectivity, configuration, and network stability
    • Collaborate with IT teams for escalations and system improvements
  • Inventory & Asset Management
    • Track, manage, and maintain internal and external test equipment inventory
    • Support equipment audits, lifecycle management, and asset documentation
    • Coordinate movement and allocation of lab assets as needed
  • Calibration & Site Support
    • Assist during calibration events and site‑wide maintenance activities
    • Coordinate with calibration teams to ensure equipment readiness
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Maintain accurate records of work performed, issues, and resolutions through ServiceNow workorders and tickets
    • Provide clear updates to stakeholders on system status and progress
    • Contribute to process improvements and standard operating procedures
    • Contribute to technical papers by adding to or creating Confluence pages
Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree and 1+ year of Support Engineering or related work experience
  • Associate's degree and 2+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent and 3+ years of Support Engineering or related work experience
  • Completed advanced degree in a relevant field may be substituted for up to one year (Master’s = one year) of work experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's, Electronic Engineering, Electronic Engineering Technology, or equivalent military training
  • 3–5 years of relevant experience in test engineering, lab support, or technical operations
  • Working knowledge of
    • RF systems, cables, and connectors
    • Linux command line troubleshooting
    • Hardware installation and system integration
    • Basic networking concepts (servers, switches, IP configuration)

Pay Range and Benefits

Pay range: $34.19 - $51.29 per hour.

Qualcomm offers a competitive annual discretionary bonus program and opportunities for annual RSU grants. Employees on sales‑incentive plans are not eligible for the annual bonus. A highly competitive benefits package is designed to support your success at work, at home, and at play.
