Job summary

Memorial Health System in Springfield, IL, is seeking a Support Clerk to provide workflow support in Medical Imaging. You will monitor PPT reports, assist Radiologists, ensure timely reading of unread images, and cooperate with IT and clinicians to resolve issues.

Qualifications

  • Education: High school diploma or the equivalency is required.
  • Course work in Business Administration is preferred but not required.
  • Experience: Minimum of two years’ Support Clerk experience in Medical Imaging Services preferred.
  • Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: Demonstrated advanced computer skills with in-depth knowledge and applicable skill with Radiology Scheduling Systems is required.
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills are required.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors the Procedure Pending Transaction (PPT) report to verify images have been read. Works with Radiologist to ensure all unread images are read timely.
  • Maintains and ensures the integrity of legal cases. Follows established risk management and health information management policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Radiologist and residents with the Tumor board conferences. Confirms all images needed have been pushed, reports scanned and merged with the Memorial medical record number (MRN).
  • Trains other staff as needed.
  • Embodies the Memorial Health System Performance Excellence Standards of Safety, Courtesy, Quality, and Efficiency that support our mission, vision and values.
  • Utilizes customer service skills by providing support to patients, visitors, physicians, residents, medical students and staff.

Overview

Provides support services to referring physicians, patients, professional and technical staff of Medical Imaging. Provides assistance to the specialist and/or Supervisor/Project Lead in monitoring the daily workflow and training of employees. Qualifications

Education:

  • High school diploma or the equivalency is required.
  • Course work in Business Administration is preferred but not required.

Licensure/Certification/Registry:

Experience:

  • Minimum of two years’ Support Clerk experience in Medical Imaging Services preferred.

Other Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Successful completion of medical terminology course is required.
  • Demonstrated advanced computer skills with in-depth knowledge and applicable skill with Radiology Scheduling Systems is required
  • Demonstrated high level communication and interpersonal skills are required.
Responsibilities

  • Maintains and ensures the integrity of legal cases. Follows established risk management and health information management policies and procedures.
  • Assists the Radiologist and residents with the Tumor board conferences. Confirms all images needed have been pushed, reports scanned and merged with the Memorial medical record number (MRN). Communicates completion to the assigned physician in a timely manner.
  • Trains other staff as needed.

  • Utilizes customer service skills by providing support to patients, visitors, physicians, residents, medical students and staff. Greets, communicates effectively and registers/checks in outpatients in a positive, accurate and professional manner. Rounds regularly in the reception areas and acts as a liaison between modalities and patient and/or families.
  • Acts as a liaison between Radiologist and ordering clinician for reporting critical results in compliance with department policy.
  • Acts as a liaison between patient floors, staff, outside physicians, Radiology Information staff and Radiologists.
  • Reviews patients with procedures/exams identified for follow-up that meet criteria identified by the department. Communicates or schedules identified patients in accordance with department process.
  • Reviews and processes stat merges to maintain integrity and accuracy of all data.
  • Ensures proper recording and transmission of appropriate patient and exam indicator information.
  • Monitors the Radiology Information System (RIS) to ensure all operations are running, and relays issues to the appropriate personnel.
  • Provides assistance for and has functional knowledge of the web browser.
  • Prepares digital images for continuation of care, medical records, and patients.
  • Answers phones utilizing proper phone etiquette to provide great customer service and meet customer needs.
  • Performs other related work as required or requested.
