Job summary

County of Bucks in Doylestown seeks a Support Clerk to perform general clerical duties: data entry, typing, filing, scheduling, reception, mail processing, and handling payments.

Qualifications

  • Work experience in a business, legal or court environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Organizes/processes office mail.
  • Performs routine filing and file maintenance duties as needed.
  • Scans all necessary paperwork in working and original files.
  • Receives/processes support payments and provides receipts to customers accurately, if assigned.
  • Receives/processes requests for information from authorized subsidized housing agencies.
  • Prepares forms, letters and other key department documents.
  • May schedule support cases for conferences or court hearings; prepare conference/court lists; organize court files; perform post-hearing routine duties as instructed or assigned.
  • May check clients in for support hearings/conferences/meetings, paternity testing appointments, etc.
  • May docket support case information.
  • May be assigned to assist a team or unit with routine clerical duties, special projects, data entry/retrieval, etc., as needed, but at a lower level of responsibility than the clerical casework performed routinely by the higher Support Caseworker/Specialist positions within said team or unit.

Performs general clerical duties that may include, but are not limited to: data entry/retrieval; typing; filing; scheduling; reception desk; mail processing; payment window; court check-in. Duties include some contact with the public.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Organizes/processes office mail.
  • Performs routine filing and file maintenance duties as needed.

  • Makes routine telephone calls as assigned.
  • Orders and maintains office supplies.
  • Follows State, County and Department security requirements, policies and procedures; understands and adheres to security plans, emergency procedures, and confidentiality policies; helps to provide a safe and secure environment for self, co-workers, and clients; takes measures to secure data and client information; keeps updated on all safeguards and security programs.
  • Ability to work in a high volume, often stressful office work environment.
  • Ability to exercise good judgement, courtesy and tact when in contact with the public and clients, who may be under a high degree of stress.
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Will be assigned as a trainer as needed.
  • Learn and use the Pennsylvania Automated Child Support Enforcement System (PACSES) and all related applications including the County computer system.
  • Ability to maintain statistics.
  • Ability to understand the Federal Performance Measures.
  • Ability to work off-site, if required.
  • Other duties may be assigned.
