Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. seeks a Support CDL Driver to fill in on open routes and support daily delivery operations. You will cover varying routes while upholding safety, service, and delivery standards.

The role includes a Monday–Friday schedule with overtime expectations. A starting wage of $24.00–$28.00 per hour is offered, with time-and-a-half pay after 40 hours. CDL-A license and related endorsements are required or training provided by the company.

Qualifications

• Must hold or be able to obtain a valid CDL Class A license.
• Must be 21 years of age or older.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant, or temporarily unassigned routes.
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight and loading trucks.
• Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers in a timely manner.
• Inspect vehicle and report mechanical issues.
• Collect payments as needed and verify shipping papers.

Job Summary

The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:00AM- completion of route
• May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs
• 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Starting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour, based on experienc e

Duties and Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Collect payments as needed
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
• Travel may be required
• Perform other required duties as assigned

Skills and Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

Education and Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds
• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
