Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Support CDL Driver to fill in on open routes and support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules while upholding safety, service, and delivery standards.

You will start at $24.00-$28.00 per hour, plus overtime after 40 hours and potential weekend OT. Candidates must be 21+, hold a CDL Class A or complete our training program, and be ready to lift up to 75-100 lbs and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older and possess a valid CDL Class A license or complete company CDL training.
• Ability to operate manual transmission and obtain doubles/triples endorsement.
• Excellent customer service and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Cover open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations.
• Assist drivers with sorting freight and loading trucks.
• Deliver and pick up freight from customers and shippers.
• Inspect vehicles and report mechanical issues.
• Maintain professional appearance and vehicle cleanliness.
• Travel may be required; participate in weekly meetings.

Job Summary

The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:00AM- completion of route
• May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs
• 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week
• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)
• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week
• Starting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour, based on experience

Duties And Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle
• Collect payments as needed
• Verify the content of pickups on shipping papers
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies
• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle
• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments
• Travel may be required
• Perform other required duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission
• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement
• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

Education And Experience

• At least 21 years of age
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical
• Ability to regularly lift and carry up to 75 pounds and occasionally lift and carry up to 100 pounds
• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.
• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
