Job summary

Spee Dee Delivery Service, Inc. is seeking a Support CDL Driver to fill in on open routes to support daily delivery operations. The role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules while maintaining safety and service standards.

Typical hours are Monday–Friday starting at 7:00 AM, with 10–15 hours of overtime expected weekly and paid overtime after 40 hours. Starting wage ranges from $24.00 to $28.00 per hour, with potential for weekend OT as needed.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license or completion of company-paid CDL training program.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• Ability to pass a DOT physical.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally.

Responsibilities

• Cover open, vacant or temporarily unassigned route based on business needs.
• Assist drivers with daily morning duties such as sorting freight, loading trucks and other duties as needed.
• Deliver and pick up freight in a timely manner from customers and shippers.
• Inspect and report any mechanical problems with the vehicle.
• Collect payments as needed.
• Verify contents of pickups on shipping papers.
• Notify management of any problems or discrepancies.

Job Summary

The Support CDL Driver fills in on open or unassigned routes to support daily delivery operations. This role requires flexibility to cover varying routes and schedules based on business needs while maintaining safety, service, and delivery standards.

Hours and Wages

• Monday- Friday, 7:00AM- completion of route


• May be expected to cover variable shifts based on business needs


• 10-15 hours of overtime expected each week


• Voluntary OT on weekends (as needed)


• Paid OT at time and a half after 40 hours per week


• Starting wage: $24.00- $28.00 per hour

Duties And Responsibilities

• Maintain professional personal appearance as well as cleanliness of vehicle


• Participate in weekly meetings and communicate goals and assignments


• Travel may be required


• Perform other required duties as assigned

Skills And Abilities

• Ability to operate a manual transmission


• Must possess or have the ability to obtain a doubles/triples endorsement


• Must possess good customer service and organizational skills

Education And Experience

• At least 21 years of age


• High school diploma or equivalent preferred


• Must hold a valid CDL Class A driver's license OR successfully complete Company paid CDL training program

Physical Requirements

• Ability to pass a DOT physical


• Ability to lift 50 pounds regularly up to 100 pounds occasionally


• Full range of motion with no limits on grasping, standing, squatting, stair climbing, walking, etc.


• Ability to work with all types to freight which include, but are not limited to hazardous material, perishable food and alcohol, firearms, ammunition, and live animals
