Southeast Missouri Residential Services is a State of Missouri facility located at 112 Plaza Drive in Sikeston, MO. We are professional, agile, and innovative.

We're looking for a Support Care Assistant to join our team of nurses who help provide one-on-one care for our consumers. A successful candidate has previous experience working with the developmentally disabled, a strong work ethic, and an active interest in helping to care for our consumers. This role is highly rewarding, as many of our consumers are living well.

Shifts include: 7:00 am - 7:00 pm & 7:00 pm - 7:00 am, with some mandatory overtime to meet facility needs.

  • Participate in implementing and conducting planned individual or group treatment activities in physical therapy, activity therapy, education, vocational rehabilitation, and related tasks.
  • Provide first-level direct care, assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and related tasks.
  • Teach or assist in developing client skills related to self-help, play, education, and socialization.
  • Assist in checking vital signs, height, and weight; provide basic healthcare; maintain records of fluid intake/output and report client conditions.
  • Observe, report, and record changes in clients' physical, behavioral, and emotional states.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.
  • May perform environment of care checks or security functions in a mental health setting.
  • May be responsible for passing medications (as medication aide) after certification.
  • Report to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Work overtime as needed to ensure adequate staffing.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Possess adequate hearing and vision to perform job duties.
  • Have knowledge of basic nursing, first aid, emergency treatments, and working with clients with various disabilities.
  • Understand elementary behavior medication techniques, medical terminology, and drug classifications; maintain accurate records.
  • Pass background screening.
  • Have 1-2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
