Job summary

State of Missouri's Southeast Missouri Residential Services seeks a Support Care Assistant to provide one-on-one care to consumers with developmental disabilities. You will assist with daily living activities, monitor health, and support treatment plans under supervision by licensed staff.

If you have 1-2 years of relevant experience, can pass Level One Medication Aide certification within a month, and can lift up to 50 pounds, this role offers meaningful work and solid benefits.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • Must have a valid driver license.
  • 1–2 years of relevant experience (substitutions may be allowed).
  • Must pass Level One Medication Aide certification within one month of assignment.

Responsibilities

  • Hands-on, direct care to clients including observations, treatment, and monitoring.
  • Assisting clients with activities of daily living such as feeding, bathing, bed making, shaving, dressing, and related tasks.
  • Develop and/or implement habilitation or treatment plans.
  • Teach or assist in developing client skills related to self-help, play, education, and socialization.
  • Assist with basic health care tasks such as checking vital signs, height, and weight.
  • Collects and maintains records of fluid intake and output, and reports on client condition.
  • Observing, reporting, and recording changes in physical condition, behavioral response, and emotional status of clients.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for client care and treatment activities.

We're looking for a Support Care Assistant to join our team of nurses who help provide one-on-one care for our consumers. A successful candidate has previous experience working with the developmentally disabled, a strong work ethic and an active interest in helping to care for our consumers. It is often said that there is no greater satisfaction than working directly with our consumers, and this is absolutely true. It's extremely rewarding, since many of our consumers are living well.

Shifts available: 7:00am - 7:00pm or 7:00pm - 7:00am with mandatory overtime as required in order to meet the needs of the facility.

  • May perform internal environment of care checks or perform some security‑related functions in a mental health care setting.
  • Performing moderately complex duties without detailed instruction.
  • Will be responsible for passing medications (as medication aide) after certification by facility officials.
  • Reporting to work on time and as scheduled.
  • Working overtime as needed to retain adequate staffing.
  • Requires heavy lifting of up to 50 pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Participating in implementing and conducting planned sessions of individual or group treatment activities in physical therapy, activity therapy, education, vocational rehabilitation, and related areas.
  • Requires heavy lifting up to (50) pounds and the ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Other related tasks as assigned.
  • Must be at least 18 years old.

  • Must be able to successfully pass Level One Medication Aide certification within one (1) month of assignment, or longer if training by facility is not made available during that time.
  • Knowledge of the general care and treatment of clients, including basic nursing, first aid and emergency treatments.
  • Ability to work with clients with physical or mental illness, developmental disabilities, physical disabilities, and/or the geriatric populations. Ability to perform first aid and emergency treatments as instructed.
