Job summary

WVU Health System is hiring a Support Associate-2 to assist the patient care team at Ruby Memorial Hospital. The role includes transporting patients and equipment between testing areas and various WVUH campuses, while maintaining patient safety and device monitoring.

Responsibilities include greeting patients, preparing them for transport, handling oxygen, disinfecting equipment, and communicating any patient concerns to the RN. Shift is 6:00pm–4:30am, 40 hours per week, non-exempt.

Qualifications

• HeartSaver First Aid certification within 30 days of hire.
• West Virginia background check required, and federal if applicable, for DHHR BMS regulated area.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

• Escort patients or items to appropriate departments.
• Assist in preparing patients for transport from the department.
• Transport patients with oxygen and monitor devices during transport.
• Disinfect wheelchairs and stretchers after use.
• Transport patients to discharge and to all WVUH campus areas.
• Use patient transport dispatching system per department guidelines.
• Maintain oxygen tank levels on each unit daily.
• Report patient concerns to the RN during transport.
• Communicate return of patient to the RN.
• Observe and ensure patient safety during transport.

Responsible for transporting patients with oxygen, including handling and storage of oxygen.5. Observes and reports to the RN all patient concerns or changes in condition while in transport.6. Promptly communicates return of patient to the RN.7. Disinfects wheelchairs and stretchers, after each use.8. Upon discharge, identifies and safely assists with the transport of patient and patient's possessions to discharge vehicles.9. Transports patients and items to and from all areas of the WVUH Campus in a safe and timely manner.10. Must be able to use the patient transport dispatching system according to the guidelines set up by the Department Manager.11. Maintains proper oxygen tank levels on each unit daily12.
