Job summary

Sanderson Farms in Montgomery, AL is seeking a diligent janitor to maintain the cleanliness of break rooms, restrooms, and related areas across the hatchery. You will restock supplies, sanitize surfaces, and follow PPE protocols and company safety guidelines.

Ability to work nights, weekends, and extended shifts is preferred. Previous poultry industry experience is a plus; a high school diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean, sweep and remove trash from main break rooms and Live Hang area after start-up and after each break.
• Clean and sanitize tables, sinks, and restrooms on all shifts at least once per hour.
• Restock supplies and ensure paper towels, toilet paper and soap dispensers are full at end of each shift.
• Sweep, mop floors and clean conference rooms daily and sanitize tables.
• Follow departmental safety policies and wear PPE per company guidelines.

Job description

Primary Function

Primarily responsible for maintaining cleanliness of break rooms and restrooms, maintaining cleanliness of smocks, and distributing supplies. Must always use and maintain personal protective equipment, and work in compliance with all company policies, NCC Animal Welfare Guidelines, and local, state and federal policies, laws and regulations.

Responsibilities and Tasks

Clean, sweep up any trash off the floors and take out the trash in the main break rooms, the break area outside, and the break room in the Live Hang area after start up and immediately following each break. Clean and sanitize each table in both the main break rooms, the break area outside and in the break room in the Live Hang area. All shifts are responsible for cleaning and/or monitoring all bathrooms (including the Live Hang bathroom) at least once every hour. Clean both the toilet base and the seat, which is to be sanitized, clean and sanitize the sinks, and check for and/or refill paper towels, toilet paper, and soap as well as clean up paper and any other trash off the floors. All shifts will clean, sweep, mop the floors, and take out the trash in both conference rooms every day. The tables in the conference rooms are to be cleaned and sanitized every day. The paper towel/soap dispensers in the little conference room are to be checked and/or refilled, the sink and microwave is to be cleaned and sanitized every day. Trash is to be taken out on all shifts. Each janitor is to restock the supplies on the cart so it is ready for the next shift. At the end of each shift the janitor is to make sure the paper towel, soap, and toilet paper dispensers are full in every area.

Safety Requirements

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to work in a wet and cold environment (45F, 4C).
• Must be able to stand for an 8‑hour shift.
• Exposed to noise (>85 decibels), CO2, and moving production.
• Maximum reach for both arms is from 10" to 36" at 30 to 80 degree angles.
• Maximum weight to lift is from 10 to 100 pounds.
