We are seeking an experienced Supply Planning Manager to lead our supply planning process and help build a more strategic, proactive, and scalable approach to production, capacity, and inventory planning across the organization. This is a highly hands-on role for someone who can think strategically while simultaneously managing the day-to-day activities required to keep the business running effectively.
The Supply Planning Manager will own key planning activities across the supply chain, including rough-cut capacity and labor planning, inventory and material requirements, production master data, and manufacturing yield analysis.
Supporting our Lynn and Danvers manufacturing facilities, we are looking for someone who is analytical, resourceful, practical, and comfortable solving problems in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where business conditions and priorities can change quickly.
This role will work closely with Operations, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Sales, Finance, Warehousing, Quality, and other areas of the business to ensure our supply chain can support customer needs, our inventory objectives, and the company's long term growth plans.
What You'll Do
- Lead the supply planning process and translate demand forecasts, customer requirements, inventory targets, and business priorities into short- and long-term production and supply requirements.
- Lead the Supply Review meeting and provide the organization with clear visibility into capacity, labor, materials, inventory, storage, and other potential supply constraints.
- Perform rough-cut capacity planning across manufacturing operations to evaluate production line utilization, equipment needs, labor, and other capacity requirements against anticipated demand.
- Proactively identify future capacity and labor constraints and develop scenarios and recommendations to mitigate potential risks to the business.
- Maintain and improve supply planning tools and related master data, including manufacturing routings, standard yields, production rates, planning parameters, and other information required to support accurate production and material planning.
- Analyze and report on manufacturing yields, including actual performance versus standards, historical trends, and significant variances. Partner with Operations, R&D and Finance to understand root causes and identify improvement opportunities.
- Monitor raw meat inventory levels, projected usage, incoming supply, shelf-life considerations, and overall requirements to ensure appropriate availability while minimizing excess inventory and waste.
- Perform inventory and material availability analysis across raw materials, ingredients, packaging, work-in-process, and finished goods to proactively identify shortages or potential constraints, while recommending corrective actions as needed.
- Identify opportunities for strategic pre-production and inventory builds to support new product launches, seasonal demand, promotions, customer launches, planned downtime, capacity constraints, or other business requirements.
- Evaluate current and future storage requirements across company facilities and third-party warehouses, with particular focus on refrigerated and frozen storage needs.
- Work closely with Demand Planning and Sales to understand changes in customer forecasts, promotions, new business opportunities, product transitions, and other demand factors that may impact supply requirements.
- Establish, monitor, and report key supply planning KPIs, including capacity utilization, manufacturing yields, inventory levels, material availability, storage utilization, and other measures of supply chain performance.
- Support budgeting and longer-range business planning by providing production, capacity, labor, inventory, material, and storage assumptions.
- Support management with external customer, regulatory, and sustainability reporting requirements, including deforestation-related reporting, Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) requirements, supply chain traceability, and other reporting needs.
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of progressive supply planning, production planning, materials planning, inventory management, operations, or related supply chain experience.
- Strong experience with production, material, inventory and capacity planning in meat processing, food manufacturing, protein, CPG, or another complex manufacturing environment preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to turn demand, production, inventory, yield, capacity, and financial data into actionable business recommendations.
- Strong Excel skills and experience working with ERP/MRP systems. Experience with Power BI or other reporting and analytical tools preferred.
- Experience participating in, or leading, S&OP, SIOP, Supply Review, or similar cross-functional planning processes preferred.
- A hands-on approach and willingness to solve problems at both the strategic and tactical levels without always having a defined process or playbook.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills with proven ability to partner effectively across Operations, Purchasing, Demand Planning, Sales, Finance, and other support functions.
- APICS/ASCM CPIM, CSCP, or similar supply chain certification preferred but not required.
What Success Looks Like
Success in this role requires someone who can look ahead, identify potential supply constraints before they become problems, and then work across the organization to develop practical solutions. You will be expected to strengthen our overall approach to supply planning, capacity management, inventory planning, manufacturing data, and business visibility while remaining close enough to day-to-day operations to respond quickly when priorities change.
This is an opportunity to have a significant impact on the business by improving how we anticipate production, labor, material, inventory, and storage requirements by providing better insights improving our planning processes to support our continued growth.
