Penn State University’s Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) is seeking a Supply Chain Support Specialist Intern to help in supply chain functions, including customer support for secure data exchange and supplier information systems. The intern will work up to 20 hours per week during fall, spring, and summer terms, supporting account setups, permissions, and audits.

Ideal candidates demonstrate strong problem-solving, organizational skills, and the ability to communicate clearly in writing.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain ARL’s Supply Chain Information Management system, including supplier compliance and technical capabilities.
  • Provide supply chain help-desk support for research & engineering activities and business & material acquisition processes.
  • Assist file exchange users with password resets, MFA resets, new account setup and unlock suspended accounts.
  • Add/remove permissions to file exchange share spaces and delete inactive user accounts.
  • Set up new file folder structures and create group permissions.
  • Troubleshoot file access issues and investigate application problems.
  • Perform yearly audits of ARL’s secure data exchange and Supply Chain Information Management system.
  • Automate supply chain tasks to improve efficiency and user-friendliness.
  • Create and update support documentation.

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS

We are searching for a self-disciplined, highly motivated, and customer service-oriented individual for the role of Supply Chain Support Specialist Intern to join our Supply Chain Department at the Applied Research Laboratory (ARL) at Penn State.


This position will be responsible for supporting various supply chain functions including customer support for ARL’s secure data exchange and supplier information management system.


ARL is an authorized DoD SkillBridge partner and welcomes all transitioning military members to apply.


You will:


  • Maintain ARL’s Supply Chain Information Management system, including supplier compliance and technical capabilities

  • Provide Supply Chain help-desk customer support for research & engineering activities, and business & material acquisition processes

  • Assist file exchange users with password resets, MFA resets, new account setup and unlock suspended accounts

  • Add/remove permissions to file exchange share spaces and delete inactive user accounts

  • Set up new file folder structures as requested by ARL staff and create group permissions

  • Troubleshoot any file access issues

  • Investigate application issues, perform cause analysis, and take corrective actions

  • Perform yearly audits ARL’s secure data exchange and Supply Chain Information Management system

  • Automate supply chain work functions, services, and processes to be more efficient and user friendly

  • Create/update support documentation

  • Past success in providing ideas in written form for clear comprehension to an audience
  • Demonstrated ability to work through a difficult problem, using proper steps to define and formulate ideas to reach a solution

Preferred skills/experience areas include:


  • Current eligibility for access to classified information at the Secret level or higher and may be subject to a government background investigation to upgrade clearance eligibility, if required


The successful candidate will work up to 20 hours/week during the fall, spring, and summer semesters.


This is a paid internship opportunity located at ARL in State College, PA.


Relocation and housing are not provided.
