Job summary

MedStar Health in Maryland is seeking a Supply Chain Manager to oversee daily operations in procedure-based departments (e.g., OR, Cath Lab). You will monitor supply usage against budget, liaise with vendors, and ensure adherence to system contracts.

You will lead inventory processes, cycle counts and supplier communications while supporting department goals and quality standards. The role requires strong teamwork and a focus on cost controls.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required; college degree preferred.
• 3-4 years management/supervisory experience; healthcare environment preferred.
• Demonstrated ability in critical thinking, problem solving, communication and customer service.

Responsibilities

• Assist in communicating supply chain strategies with department leadership and physicians to optimize workflow and standardize savings opportunities.
• Assist in developing department supply budget and manage resources per approved budget, reducing non-contract purchases.
• Communicate supply issues including back orders, recalls and substitutes to clinical teams.
• Conduct mid-year and annual performance evaluations for direct reports when applicable.
• Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, quality and safety standards, and governmental regulations.
• Oversee inventory counting, reordering and stocking to ensure timely availability and adherence to cut-off times.
• Oversee cycle counts to maintain accurate inventory and replenishment patterns.
• Participate in quality and service improvement initiatives and represent department in committees.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Process implant requests through Purchasing and reconcile implant logs to PO history.

General Summary of Position

Handles all of the daily operational aspects of supply chain management in assigned Procedure based departments (example: OR Cath Lab IR etc). Accountable for monitoring and trending supply usage to budget and reporting to senior department management. Serves as main contact for all supply and service vendors for assigned areas. Responsible for ensuring department is compliant to committed MedStar Health System service and supply contracts.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

• Assists in communication appropriately throughout the facility with procedure department leadership physicians and specialty team leaders to establish supply chain strategies to optimize work flow discuss product availability cost controls and develop strategic plans for standardization and savings opportunities.
• Assists in the development of the department supply budget and manages resources according to approved budget. Focusing efforts on the reduction of special orders and non-contract purchases.
• Communicates all supply related issues to include back orders discontinued items recall information item file changes and substitutes to the appropriate clinical team member.
• Conducts mid-year and annual performance evaluations including the establishment and monitoring of individual and team goals for all direct reports when applicable.
• Contributes to the achievement of established department goals and objectives and adheres to department policies procedures quality standards and safety standards. Complies with governmental and accreditation regulations.
• Establishes and implements processes/procedures for loaner items and consignment products.
• Oversees and executes processes involved in inventory counting reordering and stocking goods in an efficient and timely manner while adhering to established order cut-off times so that all necessary products are available when needed.
• Oversees execution of all scheduled cycle counts and oversee performance to maintain accurate inventory levels and proper replenishment patterns.
• Participates in multidisciplinary quality and service improvement teams as appropriate. Participates in meetings serves on committees and represents the department and hospital/facility in community outreach efforts as appropriate.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Processes all implant requests through Purchasing daily maintain appropriate documentation and reconciles monthly implant log to purchase order history if applicable.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education and skills competency; supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the MedStar organization.
• Responsible for adequately maintaining inventory levels sufficient to meet customer needs within efficient and practical financial guidelines and through routine reviews of min/max and Par level review.
• Serves as the primary contact for all manufacturer/vendor representative relations to include oversight of consignment inventories new product submissions demos back order resolution acceptable substitutes returns price changes and contract compliance.
• Serves as the supply chain liaison for resolving patient billing errors in assigned departments.
• Serves in the absence of the Perioperative Supply Chain Director when applicable.
