Astra Core-X in Broomfield, CO is seeking a Production Planning Lead to own the integrated master schedule across programs and lead short-term production planning for a new pilot line. THE MISSION

Astra Core-X (ACX) is developing affordable and capable combined ramjet/rocket missile interceptors for the defense of the United States and our allies. We're rapidly bringing this capability to market by pairing the latest manufacturing processes and technology with solid financial backing and the guidance of world-class industry experts and research institutions.

Over the past year ACX has grown from a founding team into a roughly 40-person organization standing up its own missile interceptor production capability out of Broomfield, Colorado and a production/test site in Chugwater, Wyoming. We're mid-build on a production facility and targeting a working pilot line within the next year. At this size, every hire directly shapes how the company runs.

THE ROLE

ACX has roughly forty engineers running across multiple concurrent programs — and no single owner tying cost and schedule together. That's how a slip goes unnoticed until it's a quarter late. This role is that owner: you'll build and hold the integrated master schedule, run short-term production planning as our pilot line comes online, and — in the near term — lead buying and inventory control until we backfill a dedicated function. It's a builder's role: you're standing up the system, not just running an existing one.

We're deliberately small and deliberately fast, and we equip every team — not just engineering — with modern software and AI-assisted tools so a lean group can run like a much bigger one.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Own the integrated master schedule across all active programs, tying engineering, procurement, and production together.
• Surface schedule and cost risk early — be the person who catches a slip in week one, not month three.
• Stand up short-term production planning and scheduling for the new pilot line as it comes online.
• Lead the buying/procurement function on an interim basis: purchase orders, supplier commitments, and long-lead tracking.
• Own inventory control, including cycle counts and stockroom accuracy.
• Partner with program and engineering leads to build schedules that are realistic — and hold the organization to them.
• Evaluate and help select planning/ERP tooling appropriate for a company our size (ACX is actively evaluating ERP options).

WHAT YOU'LL BRING

• BS in Supply Chain, Industrial Engineering, Business, or related field, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years in production planning, master scheduling, or supply chain within a hardware manufacturing environment.
• Hands-on master scheduling and MRP experience.
• Experience owning integrated cost and schedule performance across multiple programs.
• Strong Excel/data skills; comfortable being the single point of accountability at a small company.
• This role requires access to export-controlled technical data and hardware. Applicants must be U.S. citizens.

NICE TO HAVE

• APICS/CPIM or PMP certification.
• Aerospace or defense manufacturing background.
• Experience procuring long-lead or regulated materials (e.g., energetic materials, aerospace-grade raw stock).
• ERP implementation or selection experience.
• Comfort using AI-assisted forecasting or scheduling tools to keep a lean team ahead of the work.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

The annual base pay range for this role is $95,000 – $115,000, based on experience and scope.
