Job summary

Impulse Space in Redondo Beach is seeking a Supply Chain Intern for Summer 2027 to support procurement, supplier management, and planning for spacecraft hardware delivery. You will work with Planning, Engineering, Logistics, and Production to help ensure on-time parts availability.

This 12-week internship runs May/June to August/September 2027, onsite in Redondo Beach, with compensation of $30.00 per hour and potential overtime.

Qualifications

• Enrolled in or recently completed a degree in supply chain, operations, business administration, or engineering.
• Ability to take project ownership and work well in a small team.

Responsibilities

• Support quoting and PO issuance for numerous commodity part types.
• Work with design & manufacturing engineers to maintain BOM configurations.
• Manage supplier profiles and payment terms.
• Provide vendors with forecast information to support timely deliveries.
• Manage several RFPs to down-select supplier options for cost and lead time.
• Support design release against lead time assumptions and vendor identification.

Supply Chain Intern (Summer 2027)

Description

As a Supply Chain Intern at Impulse Space, you will work with Planning, Engineering, Logistics, and Production to support procurement and supplier management activities to support hardware and material delivery for the design and manufacturing of the spacecraft. You will be responsible for planning/purchasing parts related to vehicle flight hardware, raw material, capital equipment, facility and production floor consumables, and more. *This internship is 12 weeks long from May/June to August/September 2027

Responsibilities

• Support quoting and PO issuance for numerous commodity part types
• Work with design & manufacturing engineers to maintain up to date configuration of bill of materials within a dynamic design environment
• Manage supplier profiles related to general information and payment terms.
• Work with planning team to provide vendors with forecast information to support delivery of parts designated for multiple programs to meet scheduled production timelines at appropriate manufacturing cadences
• Manage several RFP's to down-select supplier options for cost, lead time, and capabilities.
• Work with design and manufacturing engineering to support design release against lead time assumptions and vendor identification for timely delivery against a constrained schedule
• Monitor inventory levels against demand and consumption and set up systems to procure efficiently
• Logistics coordination of outsourced parts, drop shipments, and open order management for all PO's to maintain on time delivery against PO promise date and supplier performance
• Supplier management on a daily basis to monitor progress, maintain schedule, and ensure schedule recovery for any delays to drive supplier accountability and performance
• Ensure receipts against PO accuracy and vendor invoicing to drive accurate accounting for our business

Minimum Qualifications

• Recent completion or working towards a degree in supply chain, operations, business administration, or engineering
• Ability to take project ownership and work well in a small team

Preferred Skills and Experience

• Some experience working in procurement or sourcing, contract negotiations, and cost analysis
• Knowledge of MRP and Supply Chain concepts
• Understanding of manufacturing processes related to mechanical components

Additional Requirements

• Willing and able to work on-site in Redondo Beach, CA for the duration of the internship
• This role may require overtime hours; interns are eligible for overtime pay.

Compensation bands are determined by role, level, location, and alignment with market data. Individual level and base pay is determined on a case-by-case basis and may vary based on job-related skills, education, experience, technical capabilities and internal equity.
