Job summary

GE Vernova’s METEM team seeks a Quality Engineering Intern to help tackle the challenge of cleaner, more accessible energy. Depending on background, activities may span EDM/FHD or ECM technologies, enabling hands-on experience with material processing and electrochemistry in an industrial setting.

Responsibilities include driving safety and quality across the portfolio, managing MRB/NC issues, and supporting continuous improvement and training in quality processes.

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program.
  • Majors accepted: Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Drive safety, quality, delivery and cost priorities for your product portfolio.
  • Manage out-of-flow inventory (MRB, NC, braze repairs, re-coat).
  • Drive Built-in-Quality and sustainability for your portfolio.
  • Reduce defects, scrap and rework via daily management, stop work, LPR.
  • Collaborate with Design Liaison Engineers to manage Material Review Board process as needed.
  • Lead continuous improvement projects in Manufacturing & Quality.
  • Conduct training for quality processes as needed.
  • Maintain Quality Management System procedures, perform audits, and direct calibration actions.

What impact you will make:

As member of the METEM team as a Quality Engineering Intern within GE Vernova, you will be an active contributor to tackling one of the world’s toughest challenges of providing cleaner, more accessible energy.

Depending on the student’s background and skillset, they could engage in either of the following technology areas:

  • Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) and Fast Hole Drilling (FHD) – gaining experience in widely applicable, non-traditional machining technologies and methods. Drilling into super alloys to support turbine nozzles and buckets. (ME, EE, IE, MSE)
  • Electrochemical Machining (ECM) – another non-traditional machining technology that provides a chance to apply Engineering and Chemistry skills in a specialized industrial electrochemistry application. Provides a great foundation for future professional growth in other electrochemistry areas such a as battery and fuel cell manufacturing and research. (ChE, EE, MSE)
What you will do:
  • Drive business priorities related to safety, quality, delivery and cost across your assigned product portfolio
  • Manage of out-of-flow inventory (MRB, NC, braze repairs, re-coat)
  • Drive Built-in-Quality implementation and sustainability for your assigned product portfolio
  • Reduce defects, scrap and rework through daily management, stop work, problem solving, Layered Process Review
  • Collaborate with Design Liaison Engineers to manage Material Review Board process including defect reporting and disposition by customer where required in a timely manner
  • Drive continuous improvement projects in Manufacturing & Quality departments
  • Conduct training for quality processes as needed
  • Maintain Quality Management System procedures, perform audit, and direct calibration actions
Expected Work Schedule:

Day/1st -Shift (40 - hours weekly)

What you’ll bring (Basic Qualifications):
  • Must be enrolled in a full-time undergraduate or graduate program in a discipline as listed below.
  • Following majors accepted: Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Material Science Engineering, Mechanical Engineering.

Authorization: This role requires use of technical data subject to U.S. Government export restrictions and this posting is only for U.S. Persons (U.S. Citizens, lawful permanent residents and protected individuals (e.g., certain refugees and asylees)). GE will require proof of status prior to employment.

Pay Range: $21.00/hour – $34.00/hour (Based on years of undergraduate/graduate field of study completed). This posting is expected to remain open for at least seven days after it was posted on 9/1/26.

Desired Characteristics:

Maintain a minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA (without rounding)
