Job summary

Crane Company is seeking a procurement specialist to ensure a continuous supply of direct and indirect materials and services. You will support production schedules, optimize landed costs, and drive supplier collaboration across the supply chain.

The role emphasizes analytical decision-making, ERP proficiency, and cross-functional teamwork to improve inventory turns and on-time delivery while aligning with ISO/IATF standards and cost reduction initiatives.

Qualifications

• In progress of achieving bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment

Responsibilities

• Evaluates and adjusts purchase orders to support production schedules and communicates concerns to departments and suppliers
• Communicates forecasted requirements to external suppliers
• Drives inventory turns and improves on-time delivery by implementing pull-based replenishment processes (Kanban, vendor managed inventory, supplier consignments)
• Plans materials for resourcing and outsourcing projects to ensure uninterrupted product flow to customers
• Participates in supplier development with Crane Supply Chain
• Negotiates pricing leveraging manufacturing techniques, volume buys, tooling vs machining
• Supports quality improvements per IATF 16949 and ISO 9001 standards

Job description

Position Summary:

Responsible for assuring the continuous supply of direct and indirect material and services to support local and brand based goals. M inimize the total landed cost of material, optimize company's cash flow through Strategic Sourcing Initiatives.

Principle Duties (includes, but is not limited to):

• Evaluates and acts upon the MRP requirements and Kanban levels for all direct material items. Generates and adjusts purchase orders to support production schedules. Effectively communicates areas of concern to appropriate departments, individuals and/or suppliers. Inputs, maintains, and adjusts records or transactions to ensure system validity
• Effectively communicates forecasted requirements to external suppliers
• Maintains department 'MDI' board driving improvements in S,Q,D,C,G
• Drives increased inventory turns and improved customer OTD by developing, implementing and managing pull-based material replenishment processes, including, but not limited to Kanban cards, vendor managed inventory and supplier consignments
• Support resourcing and out-sourcing projects by proactively planning materials to ensure uninterrupted flow of product to customers as required
• Working with Crane Supply Chain in the review, development and creation of new and existing suppliers
• Negotiating pricing by leveraging manufacturing techniques, volume buys/blanket orders, tooling vs machining, etc.
• Evaluating using catalogue and alternate parts to increase product rationalization and drive productivity improvements
• Consistent with Crane's Operational Excellence focus, participates in Value Stream Mapping and Kaizen events that will eliminate waste and result in significant benefits (Growth, Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost) throughout the Supply Chain
• Promotes a spirit of cooperation throughout the supply chain to insure responsiveness to the customer
• Participate in quality improvements as per IATF 16949 2016 to ensure completed toll gates for DFMEA, PFMEA, Control Plans, MSA, and Process Capability studies for in house processes
• Ensure requirements of relevant standards like ISO 9001-2015, etc. are being consistently met and improved.

Essential Qualifications / Experience:

• In progress of achieving bachelor's degree in business, Supply Chain Management, or related field
• Excellent analytical, problem solving/decision making skills; ability to make timely, effective, fact-based decisions
• Knowledgeable in Microsoft office suite software (e.g. Word, Excel, etc.)
• Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to perform and produce results in multifunctional teams in a dynamic work environment
• Proven ability to develop collaborative relationships and influence up, down, and across organizational lines

Preferred Qualifications/Experience

• Experience working with suppliers from low-cost regions (India, China, Eastern Europe, Etc.)
• Experience implementing lean concepts (Value Stream Mapping, Kaizen Leadership, 5S, etc)
• Knowledge and use of ERP systems
• Knowledge of supplier performance management practices, including supplier scorecards and performance metrics

Salary range: $25.00 hourly. Several factors contribute to actual salary, including experience in a similar role or performing comparable job responsibilities, skills, training, and other qualifications. Some roles may be eligible for participation in performance-based bonus programs.
