Job summary

Johnson Controls offers a 12-week Supply Chain & Operations Internship across U.S. manufacturing plants, including San Antonio, TX and Lubbock, TX.

Interns gain exposure to production supervision, materials planning, procurement, logistics, quality, and Lean/Continuous Improvement. Participants will learn the JCI Business System, rotate through multiple functions, and connect with leaders while building business acumen for the SCOR program after graduation.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial/Mechanical Engineering or Supply Chain Management.
  • Strong communication and analytical skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

  • Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and projects.
  • Learn the JCI Business System and support plants to meet and exceed KPIs.
  • Oversee daily production support, ensuring smooth operations through capacity management, scheduling analysis, and optimizing cycle times.
  • Monitor and report on KPIs.
  • Maintain and improve reports to ensure manufacturing floor enabling operational efficiency.
  • Implement measures to minimize waste.

The Supply Chain & Operations Internship is a twelve-week summer development opportunity that prepares current college students for our Supply Chain & Operations Rotational (SCOR) Program upon college graduation. Interns gain hands‑on experience with strategic roles in our manufacturing plants across the country, including, but not limited to, production supervision, manufacturing engineering, materials planning, procurement, logistics and distribution, quality, and Lean/Continuous Improvement.

What you will do:

Interns will get to experience all aspects of JCI, hone their skills in new and existing technologies, build their business acumen by engaging in our learning model, and connect with top leaders of the company.

Potential manufacturing plant internship locations for Summer 2027 include but are not limited to:
  • Marinette, WI
  • York, PA
  • Largo, FL
  • San Antonio, TX
  • Lubbock, TX

Note: Locations are subject to change based on business need. Interns will submit preference, but location is not guaranteed. Johnson Controls provides some relocation support for moves over 60 miles from home. If you apply to this role in any location, you will be considered for all locations where the program is offered.

How you will do it:
  • Participate in Lean manufacturing initiatives and projects

What we look for:
  • Relevant internship, extracurricular, or project experience
  • Comfortable relocating to one of our manufacturing plant locations
  • Pursuing Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or similar.
  • Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited U.S. college or university, with a scheduled graduation date between December 2027 and June 2030.
  • Must have access to personal transportation
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite, particularly Excel
  • Strong interpersonal skills and decision-making abilities
  • Robust communication skills, both written and verbal
  • U.S. citizen or permanent resident as we're unable to sponsor visas for these roles

HIRING HOURLY RANGE:

$21-24/hour (Hourly rate to be determined by the education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities of the applicant, internal equity, location and alignment with market data.)
