Job summary

Lilly is offering a summer Supply Chain Internship in Indianapolis, IN for 12 continuous weeks starting May or June 2027. The program provides opportunities to work on global supply chain processes, demand forecasting, and material planning with exposure to SAP and cross-functional teams.

Interns develop professional skills through hands-on projects, with potential for full-time employment based on performance, and receive on-site facilities access, parking, and housing guidance where needed.

Qualifications

  • Enrolled in a bachelor’s or master’s degree program related to Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Anticipated graduation by August 2028.
  • Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis (no visa sponsorship).

Responsibilities

  • Operate specific supply chain business processes at a Global level, providing visibility and resolving issues.
  • Develop product family forecasts and pass dependent demands via SAP.
  • Lead or participate in a global or site product launch team.
  • Execute Master Scheduling, Shop Floor Control, MRP and Purchasing processes to improve performance.
  • Serve as the link between Lilly Affiliates/Trading Companies and sites in a Customer Service role.
  • Work with a team on a strategic supply chain project using world-class tools and processes.
  • Integrate material master data between manufacturing sites, business units, and sales/marketing affiliates.

Functional Overview & Responsibilities

The internships are a temporary summer position that lasts for 12 CONTINUOUS weeks beginning in May or June 2027. As a Supply Chain Intern, you will experience an exciting summer that offers a wide range of opportunities for professional development. Lilly has nearly 700 individuals in the Supply Chain community whose responsibility is to enable reliable, on-time delivery to our customers. These individuals move materials either physically or virtually across geographic boundaries and time zones to be sure that the medicine is available when the patient needs it. By giving employees, the opportunity to strengthen their skills through a variety of assignments, we further increase the possibilities for professional achievement, and the success of our company. Your intern project could consist of one of (but not limited to) the following:

  • Operating specific supply chain business processes at a Global level, providing visibility, integrating proposed changes and resolving issues, enhancing global supply chain management skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Conducting supply chain processes within a manufacturing Network which includes confirming validity of near-term demand forecast, developing product family forecasts and passing dependent demands to all impacted sites via SAP. This will deepen our understanding of demand forecasting and SAP processes.
  • Leading or participating in a global or site product launch team and further developing leadership and project management skills.
  • Executing Master Scheduling, Shop Floor Control, Material Requirements Planning and/or Purchasing Processes to achieve safety, quality, service and financial performance at a manufacturing site or clinical trial organization and improve operational planning and execution skills.
  • Serving as the link between Lilly Affiliates / Trading Companies and the sites in a Customer Service role to maintain the highest possible standard of customer service and developing expertise in customer service and supply chain management.
  • Working with a team focused on completion of a specific, strategic supply chain project using world-class tools and processes and learning to apply cutting-edge supply chain tools and methodologies.
  • Serving as an integrator of material master data between a manufacturing site, the business unit and the sales and marketing affiliate by learning data integration techniques and leveraging cross-functional collaboration.
  • Leading or participating in logistical activities to support and improve distribution channels and learn how to optimize for better performance.
Basic Qualifications & Requirements
  • Enrolled in a bachelor's or master’s degree program related to Engineering, Supply Chain or related field.
  • Anticipated graduation by August 2028.

Additional Information
  • Positions currently located in Indianapolis, IN or Lebanon, IN, Concord, NC, Durham, NC, or Kenosha, WI.
  • All interns will be considered for full-time positions based on their internship performance
  • Lilly arranges various intern activities including sporting events, dinners, lunch and learns, volunteer activities etc. to provide opportunities for socializing, professional development, and learning more about Lilly.
  • Interns will receive 1 week of paid time off during the Lilly summer shut-down (July 5th – July 9th)
  • Interns will receive a competitive salary and free parking at their work site, as well as access to Lilly’s onsite facilities
  • If the intern's job position requires a move from another location, Lilly will provide subsidized housing
  • Interns are responsible for arranging their own transportation to and from work.

Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location. The anticipated wage for this position is Undergrad: $45,000 - $64,800 Masters: $71,400 - $76,500

The anticipated wage for this position is $43,000 - $110,000 Full-time equivalent employees also will be eligible for a company bonus (depending, in part, on company and individual performance).
