Qualifications

Job description

The Director of Supply Chain will provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of all supply chain management and procurement for Confidential.

Reporting to Confidential, this position will drive operational excellence by developing and executing a strategy focused on the responsive and efficient procurement of quality, cost competitive materials and services for use in manufacturing Confidential products and running its operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Drive towards optimized sourcing strategy that aligns with global manufacturing strategy.
  • Leads Manufacturing engagement with Corporate Supply Chain on joint initiatives to define inventory levels and continuous improvement efforts in Supply Chain.
  • Functions as Subject Matter Expert for purchasing controls and compliance.
  • Responsible for purchases and/or contracts for materials and services in accordance with company established practices and policies to ensure ethical relationships with suppliers.
  • Responsible for the negotiation, contract terms and conditions, and purchase of capital equipment to include service contracts of said capital equipment.
  • Responsible for developing and implementing all processes of supplier performance measurement, purchasing regulatory compliance, auditing, and corrective and preventive actions. Reports on supplier related metrics during a management review.
  • Participates in Sales and Operations Planning.
  • Provides strategic inputs to Senior leadership feeding annual and three-year planning cycles.
  • Develops and maintains process to define long-range forecasts as inputs to annual strategic planning.
  • Thorough understanding of the Confidential Quality Management System and relevant ISO standards that govern purchasing and warehousing activities. Participates in internal/external audits.
  • Projects and minimizes scrap exposure by identifying issues and proposing solutions
  • Develops and maintains processes to monitor forecast and safety stock levels and adjusts accordingly. Maintains frequent communications with strategic partners on a variety of subjects, including order information, bin levels, defects, and shipping issues.
  • Leads identification of potential disruption in the supply chain due to changes in supplier’s business including their strategic direction, operating results, technical capabilities and overall performance and develops effective plans for mitigation.
  • Responsible for staffing, development, and management of subordinates while promoting an environment of positive leadership and engagement.
  • Demonstrates year-over-year cost reduction.
  • Engage and collaborate with customers and suppliers to manage the relationship on product issue identification, problem resolution and total experience.
  • Engage across all groups and stakeholders to identify problems early and address them before they become critical issues.
  • Assess risk profile of supply chain and its resilience and recovery from interruptions and choosing and deploying tools to facilitate the planning of supply chain spend.
  • Drive business infrastructure tools, short/long term business processes, and Service Level Agreements between Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
  • Establish and maintain long term agreements with suppliers, equipment providers, and maintenance service providers.
  • Continuity planning and risk mitigation.
  • Development of outsourcing capabilities for capacity flexibility, and extensive lead time reduction.
  • Write effective reports on development of progress of projects.
  • Application of Lean Manufacturing concepts, including 5S.
  • Develop and maintain a working knowledge of the Confidential Quality Management System and properly apply Quality Procedures and Operating Procedures as appropriate. Follow all company safety policies and report any unsafe conditions to Manufacturing Manager, EHS Manager, and/ or Director of Manufacturing
  • Other duties or projects as assigned.

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business, or related field required.
  • 10+ years experience within supply chain management, 7 years of which should be in a leadership role having significant business impact which included the handling all aspects of Supply Chain development, implementation, and operation.
  • 5+ years experience in manufacturing operations or supporting roles
  • Demonstrated effective organizational, planning, negotiating, coaching, and conceptual thinking skills.
  • Demonstrative analytical skills necessary to interpret and convey quantitative and qualitative data relevant to service line to all stakeholders and operational and executive management.
  • Demonstrates proficiency in verbal and written communication and experience with electronic systems and programs.
  • Demonstrative skills developing enterprise level strategies, including the ability to develop presentations and communications at an executive level.
