Job summary

Nexteer Automotive is seeking a Student Co-Op in Auburn Hills, MI to support the Global Commodity Manager for Semiconductors. The role is onsite with 20–32 hours weekly in Fall/Winter and up to 40 hours in Summer.

You will gain real-world procurement experience, assist with data collection, RFIs/RFQs, and supplier evaluations, while applying coursework in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment. Candidates must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s in SCM or related fields with at least a 3.0

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Engineering, Business, or other relevant fields.
• Candidate must be able to work onsite in Auburn Hills, MI
• Able to work 20–32 hours per week during Fall/Winter semesters while maintaining full-time student status.
• Able to work up to 40 hours per week during the summer.
• Minimum 3.0 cumulative GPA on a 4.0 scale.
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional environment
• Proficient with Microsoft Office Products (Office 365, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Responsibilities

• Support Global Commodity Managers with data collection, validation, and analysis to inform sourcing and negotiation activities.
• Assist with RFI/RFQ events by gathering quotations, consolidating responses, and preparing comparison summaries.
• Prepare and organize negotiation and contract documentation with strong attention to detail.
• Coordinate with regional and cross-functional teams to support cost reduction, P2P improvements, and continuous improvement projects.
• Support supplier performance reviews, including assessments, QBR preparation, and follow-up on open items.
• Contribute to procurement benchmarking and implement best practices to improve efficiency and standardization.
• Monitor supply market trends and support forecasting and specification aggregation for strategic planning.
• Assist with contingency planning and communication during supply disruptions.
