Job summary

Heartland Food Products Group, a global leader in the CPG industry, seeks a Supply Chain Clerk to verify materials against BOMs, ensure bar code accuracy, and stage materials for production in Indianapolis-area facilities.

You will monitor pallet quantities, run variance reports, and coordinate with warehouse and production teams to keep inventory accurate while upholding safety, quality, and GMP standards.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Strong MS Office proficiency, especially Excel.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, detail-oriented.
  • Able to communicate to all levels of the organization.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident‑free work place.
  • Reports unsafe conditions or safety issues to Management.
  • Issues materials to appropriate job numbers as they are brought into production.
  • Informs supervisor of discrepancies between bar code quantity and actual quantity.
  • Requisitions materials and/or ingredients from warehouse personnel.
  • Runs variance reports and compares material used to material staged for supervisor review.
  • Assists leads to ensure pallet quantities match tag quantities when returning to warehouse.
  • Prints and monitors bin aging reports to identify problems and resolve them.
  • Suggests changes to procedures to improve inventory accuracy.
  • Ensures staging bin inventory is accurate at end of shift.
  • Maintains area free of debris and controls costs where possible.
  • Follows SOPs and GMPs and company policies; performs tasks as assigned.

Scope:

The Supply Chain Clerk performs the following duties before the material is brought into the production room: verifies the actual material matches the bar code and description on the Bill of Material, verifies the actual material matches both bar codes on the pallet, verifies the expiration date of the material, verifies the condition of the packaging of the material, verifies the material is staged to the appropriate staging bin location, and checks that the actual pallet quantity coming into a room matches the quantity on the bar code label.

Essential Duties and Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintains a high level of safety awareness for an accident‑free work place
  • Reports any unsafe or hazardous work conditions or safety‑related issues to Management
  • Immediately issues materials to appropriate job numbers as the material is brought into the production room
  • Immediately informs the Production Supervisor or Coordinator of discrepancies between the bar code quantity and actual quantity
  • Requisitions materials and/or ingredients from warehouse personnel
  • Runs variance report and compares material used to material staged and provides the information to the supervisor or the lead on a timely basis
  • Assists Production Leads to ensure pallet quantities match tag quantities for any material returning to the warehouse
  • Prints and monitors bin aging reports throughout shift to identify problems and resolves them immediately
  • Suggests changes to procedures that may increase the accuracy of inventory
  • Assists leads in ensuring the staging bin inventory is accurate at the end of each production shift
  • Maintains area free of debris
  • Suggests ways to control labor and supply costs as well as improve processes
  • Ensures that all work activities are performed with attention to the highest standards for quality, safety and compliance with all appropriate legal and food safety requirements and a focus on continuous improvement
  • Ensures that all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) are followed
  • Follows all company policies & procedures as well as the GMP's (Good Manufacturing Practices)
  • Accomplishes all tasks as appropriately assigned or requested
  • All other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong working knowledge of MS Office applications with proficiency in MS Excel
  • Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills and exhibit attention to detail
  • Able to effectively communicate to all levels of the organization
  • Possess basic reasoning and problem solving skills
  • Have the ability to work independently and with a team within a fast paced environment
  • Demonstrate and promote teamwork on a consistent basis
Physical Demands:
  • Must be able to physically perform the functions of climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, and repetitive motions
  • Must be able to work extended hours, such as daily overtime and an occasional weekend
  • Must be able to work extended hours while standing
  • Continuous walking throughout plant and distribution center
  • Lifting up to 40 pounds
