Job description

Overview

The M.C. Dean, Inc. Maritime Division works at shipyards around the world from our regional offices in Chesapeake, VA. Become a key member of our Alteration Installation Teams, supporting C4ISR system installations on ships and submarines. Abilities and Responsibilities:
  1. Assist with a variety of routine and/or low to high dollar value buying/purchasing tasks involving materials, suppliers, or services.
  2. Assist with obtaining quotes from vendors.
  3. Review purchase requisitions, place orders with approved suppliers, and follow up to ensure timely delivery.
  4. Use websites to research and determine parts and material information.
  5. Understand logistics and purchasing processes.
  6. Inspect and receive materials and equipment.
  7. Prepare materials for shipment and storage.
  8. Track material orders and shipments.
  9. Use computerized inventory systems effectively.
  10. Handle hazardous materials in compliance with requirements.
  11. Utilize MS Word and MS Excel to document material inventory for projects.
  12. Assist with invoices to ensure they match appropriate purchases, transfers, and rental transactions.
  13. Maintain vendor pricing records to track fluctuations over time.

Experience: 2 years of material tracking and logistics knowledge.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma or GED.

Applicants will be subject to a government security investigation and must meet eligibility requirements, including U.S. Citizenship, for access to classified information. Eligibility for a DoD clearance is required. A valid driver's license is also necessary.

Physical and Other Abilities:
  • Lift at least 100 pounds at one time and 60 pounds for an extended period.
  • Relocate a 12-foot stepladder without assistance.
  • Work at various heights up to 60 feet, climbing and maintaining balance on scaffolds, aerial lifts, catwalks, and ladders.
  • Perform routine movements such as walking, climbing, lifting, squatting, crawling, kneeling, pushing, pulling, and reaching overhead.
  • Possess good vision (corrected if necessary), color vision, and the ability to hear and communicate in English.
  • Use standard ladders without exceeding weight limits while carrying tools.
  • Recognize when something is wrong or likely to go wrong, without necessarily solving the problem.
  • Apply general rules to specific problems to produce logical answers.
  • Combine information to form general rules or conclusions, including finding relationships among unrelated events.
  • See details at close range (within a few feet).
  • Listen to and understand spoken information and ideas.
