Position Overview

We are adding a Project Supplier Quality Lead (or Manager, depending on experience) to our Kiewit Supply Network in Lenexa, Kansas. You will support projects across various market areas, ensuring suppliers develop and implement best practices focused on defect prevention, waste reduction, continuous improvement, and compliance with quality standards and client requirements. You will serve as the key contact for supplier product quality and liaise with fabrication sites, project teams, engineering, and procurement. Ideal candidates have a background in construction, heavy equipment manufacturing, or experience as a Field Engineer or Superintendent reviewing contracts and building complex projects.

District Overview

The Kiewit Supply Network provides procurement services to construction and engineering clients across multiple markets, focusing on delivering equipment, materials, and services on schedule, within budget, and to specifications.

Location

This position is based at the Lenexa, KS District Home Office or our Houston Regional Office.

Responsibilities

• Create and manage project-specific supplier quality plans.
• Review and approve supplier quality and manufacturing documents such as Quality plans, ITPs, WPS, PQRs, WPQs, MTRs, and coating procedures against applicable codes and standards.
• Review and approve manufacturing records and deviation requests.
• Prepare project-specific quality documentation, including Quality Master Inspection Test Plans and checklists.
• Coordinate inspections with suppliers, clients, and third-party inspectors.
• Lead supplier quality efforts on projects and act as liaison with clients and project teams.
• Inspect or support inspection of pressure vessels, piping, structural fabrications, etc., ensuring compliance.
• Manage budgets, inspectors, engineers, and third-party resources, maintaining accurate forecasts.
• Ensure client quality requirements are met and educate project teams on supplier quality programs.
• Track and resolve supplier nonconformities and quality issues.
• Perform supplier audits and ensure inspection activities are aligned.
• Undertake training and maintain relevant certifications.
• Travel as needed to project sites, Kiewit sites, and supplier locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Quality, or related field + 5+ years of supplier quality experience, or Associate’s Degree + 10+ years of SQM experience.
• Experience reviewing Inspection and Test Plans from suppliers.
• Knowledge of NDE, welding, ASME codes, and coatings for heavy equipment.
• Experience in industries such as oil/gas, power, water/wastewater, or heavy manufacturing.
• Ability to interpret fabrication drawings and technical specifications.
• Understanding of industry standards like NACE, ASME, AWS, ISO.
• Ability to travel up to 25% across North America.
