Ranews Companies in Olathe, KS is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure fabrication, welding, and coating partners meet engineering drawings and standards. You will drive supplier qualification, audits, and corrective actions while collaborating with engineering and supply chain.

The role requires 3–5+ years in quality/manufacturing engineering, with strong welding process knowledge (GMAW/GTAW/FCAW/SMAW) and familiarity with ISO 9001, AWS, and coating standards.

Formación

• BS in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering or related field.
• 3–5+ years in quality or manufacturing engineering in fabrication, welding, or coating.
• Strong knowledge of welding processes (GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW) and relevant codes.
• Familiarity with coating and surface prep standards ( SSPC, NACE, ASTM ).
• Experience with PPAP, First Article, MRB, 8D/5-Why, PFMEAs, CPs, MSA are desirable.

Responsabilidades

• Evaluate and qualify new suppliers' fabrication, welding, and coating capabilities.
• Conduct on-site supplier audits for ISO 9001, AWS, and AISC standards.
• Review blueprints, WPS/PQR, and coating specifications with suppliers.
• Lead PPAP and First Article Inspections, including mill certs and coating thickness records.
• Verify supplier weld setups, welder certifications, fixtures, and NDT programs.
• Monitor supplier surface prep, DFT, adhesion testing, and gloss/color uniformity.
• Coordinate containment of weld and paint defects at supplier sites or incoming inspection.
• Issue SCARs and lead 8D / 5-Why root cause investigations with suppliers.
• Manage MRB disposition and rework validation for out-of-spec assemblies.
• Track supplier PPM and on-time delivery, and coach suppliers on continuous improvement.

Job Description

We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to ensure our external manufacturing partners deliver fabricated, welded, and coated components that meet engineering drawings, industry standards, and appearance requirements. This role serves as the technical liaison between our engineering team and our supply chain, managing supplier qualification, conducting weld and paint audits, and driving root cause corrective action to reduce incoming defects.

Supplier Quality Engineer Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Materials Engineering, or related field.
• 3-5+ years of quality or manufacturing engineering experience in fabrication, welding, and/or coating.
• Strong knowledge of GMAW, GTAW, FCAW, SMAW; AWS D1.1/D1.2 or ASME Section IX preferred.
• Familiarity with surface prep and SSPC, NACE, and ASTM coating standards.
• Proficient in blueprint reading, GD&T, PFMEAs, Control Plans, and MSA.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• AWS CWI, AMPP/NACE CIP, ASQ CQE/CSQP/CQA, or Lean Six Sigma certification a plus.
