Job Title: Supplier Quality Engineer - Mechanical Commodity (Remote, Greater New England Area)

Position Overview: We are seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to implement tools and processes that ensure supplier improvements, robust plans, and first-time quality delivery for BAE program customers. Responsibilities include qualifying new suppliers, investigating and resolving quality issues, conducting audits, analyzing defect trends, and leading continuous improvement initiatives. The role involves capability assessments, onsite source inspections, and managing multiple projects. The ideal candidate is a proactive problem solver with strong analytical and communication skills, capable of engaging with suppliers and presenting to executive leadership.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Utilize supplier Scorecards/metrics and analytical tools to evaluate performance and develop improvement plans.
  2. Assess the impact of nonconforming products and ensure timely communication and corrective actions.
  3. Lead problem solving and root cause analysis activities with suppliers to prevent recurrence of issues.
  4. Perform Production Process Verifications (PPV) and participate in PPAP reviews and APQP processes.
  5. Conduct First Article Inspections per AS9102 standards and train suppliers accordingly.
  6. Promote a Zero Defect culture within the supply base.

Location & Travel: This is a remote position; candidates must reside in or near the New England area to facilitate supplier visits. Relocation is not provided.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree with 2-4 years of experience or 4-8 years of experience without a degree.
  • Experience with manufacturing inspection and acceptance of mechanical parts across various processes.
  • Knowledge of subtractive/additive manufacturing and materials.
  • Proficiency in interpreting drawings, specifications, and measurement data, including mechanical tolerances and surface quality.
  • Understanding of MIL STD, ANSI, ISO standards, and special processes like coatings, metallization, heat treatment, etc.
  • Familiarity with mechanical and optical metrology, inspection tools, and supply chain logistics.
  • Strong communication skills and experience with aerospace and defense testing and quality systems.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Effective communicator and practical problem solver.
  • Self-starter capable of working independently and prioritizing tasks.
  • Experience with product validation, testing, and qualification in aerospace/defense industries.
  • Knowledge of APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, and Lean Six Sigma; Green/Black Belt certification is a plus.
  • Eligibility for security clearance from the Department of Defense.

Compensation & Benefits: Salary range: $95,106 - $161,680. Benefits include health/dental/vision insurance, 401(k), disability and life insurance, paid time off, holidays, parental/military/bereavement leave, recognition programs, and other perks.
