Supplier Quality Engineer - Manufacturing, Life Sciences

Supplier Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Life Sciences, Akron, OH

The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) will serve as the immediate delegate to the Quality Manager. The SQE will ensure that the quality standards of the company remain maintained across all our Suppliers. The SQE will participate in and lead complaint investigations, CAPA investigations with Saint-Gobain Suppliers, lead supplier audits, drive supplier quality, conduct internal audits and drive continuous improvement projects throughout the plant. The SQE will participate in and host third party audits and conduct training when needed. Implementation, maintenance, and control of systems & practices, which monitor, assess, and approve the quality of materials and products at all stages of production at SG Suppliers. Responsible for implementing, maintaining, and facilitating continuous quality improvement objectives, primarily ISO 9001 at Saint-Gobain Suppliers.

Ensure the plant remains in full compliance with regulatory requirements and ISO requirements as they pertain to the plant, customer specifications, and corporate quality policies.

Essential Functions:

• Lead resolution of internal and external quality issues such as inquiries, quality events, SCARs, complaints, nonconformances, CAPAs, audits utilizing sound problem solving methodologies. Ensure robust root cause analysis investigation and CAPA for deviations and nonconforming product with our suppliers 30%
• Oversee Quality Review of Saint-Gobain’s approved supplier list. list (ASL). Maintain the site ASL by performing assessments and ensuring supplier information (e.g. ISO certs, questionnaires, etc.) are current and up to date.
• Acts as liaison between production floor and Suppliers along with supply chain for problem resolution. 20%
• Project Management (manage supplier development projects to align with commodity strategies, new product introduction and supplier consolidation/exit strategies)
• Supplier Quality (lead supplier performance improvement initiatives, ensure suppliers fully understand quality and product requirements, lead supplier assessment activities to evaluate potential suppliers’ technical and quality capabilities to meet Saint-Gobain requirements) 35%
• Conducts training, coordinates function, resolves issues/problems, and manages projects requiring direction of others throughout the facility as needed.
• Facilitate the collection and submission of needed compliance and regulatory documents from the supply chain. 15%

Education:
Bachelors Engineering -Required
Master’s Engineering or Sciences - Preferred

License/Certifications:
WCM Green Belt or Equivalent- Preferred
ASQ Certifications desirable (CQE, CQM, CQA, CQT) -Preferred

Work Experience:
5+ year’s experience Manufacturing Environment (ISO Cert) - Required
5+ year’s experience Supplier Quality - Required

Practical/Technical/Digital Knowledge:
Strong knowledge of ISO and cGMP requirements and relevant industry standard practices is required.
Must have ability to interpret these regulations to ensure proper implementation in the plant systems. Required
Must have experience in performing risk analysis (e.g. FMEA, FTA, PPAP, Risk Ranking/Filtering) and the ability to assess and audit quality management systems. Required
Excellent analytical / problem solving, project management, interpersonal and organizational skills required. Required
Digital solution development skills and understanding of systems, data integrity and data creation Preferred
Proficient with Microsoft Access, Excel and Word required. Required
