Abbott in Alameda, CA is seeking an Intermediate Supplier Quality Engineer to drive improvement and corrective actions on components sourced from outside suppliers. You will support supplier selection, develop material acceptance criteria, and monitor supplier performance to address yield issues and field failures.

• Supports input to Design Engineering on new component technology and performs quality/reliability analyses.
• Investigates field failures and develops corrective action plans where needed.

Title: Supplier Quality Engineer - Intermediate

Location: Alameda, CA

Duration: 12 Months

Description:

Drives improvement and corrective action in the quality of components sourced from outside suppliers. Provides technical support in the selection of suppliers. Develops acceptance criteria for materials. Monitors supplier performance to drive supplier corrective action, manufacturing yield issues, and field failures. Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or a related scientific field plus 5-8 years of related work experience with a good understanding of the specified functional area; or
• Master's degree with 0-2 years of related work experience.

Key Responsibilities

• Assess potential new suppliers for technical, quality, and manufacturing capabilities. Provides technical support for the introduction of components from a new supplier.
• Evaluates supplier-driven changes and drives compliant implementation.
• Evaluates, qualifies, and monitors suppliers using a risk-based approach. Ensures all supplier documentation is complete and implemented.
• Assists in generating component specifications.
• Generates test protocols, monitors testing, issues qualification test reports, and approves components for use in products.
• Provides input to Design Engineering on new component technology and assists in component selection with quality and reliability analysis.
• Communicates issues to suppliers.
• Reviews new design specifications and provides input from a component quality and manufacturability perspective.
• Investigates field failures related to supplier materials. Develops corrective action plans where necessary.
