Job summary

BD, a leading medical technology company, is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer in Sumter, SC. The role manages the supplier quality program for raw materials and drives qualification and certification to ensure compliance with product specs.

You will resolve quality issues with suppliers and support changes that affect supplier performance. Responsibilities include leading supplier audits, coordinating CAPAs, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to improve metrics.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Experience in supplier quality or quality assurance is preferred.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, summarize, and report vendor performance to management.
• Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers on disposition of rejected/blocked stock.
• Lead and coordinate Quarterly Supplier Quality meetings.
• Collaborate with suppliers on CAPAs for quality issues.
• Conduct supplier audits and assessments/surveys.
• Support updating buy spec agreements with suppliers.
• Assist in validations and updates of new suppliers and changes.
• Intro of new suppliers/materials and cross-department coordination.
• Develop strategy to improve supplier quality metrics.
• Participate in Sumter SQT and communications with SMAT.
• Log and track CAPAs and CIRs for suppliers.
• Prepare memos for Supplier Quality Assessments requested by Compliance.
• Assist in completing NCMRs and variances for non-conforming materials.
• Support Quarantine Cage reports for Materials Control.

Job Description

The Supplier Quality Engineer manages the supplier quality program covering raw materials that are produced to detailed specifications. The SQE implements and maintains a comprehensive supplier qualification and certification program to ensure that incoming components/materials comply with the product specifications or buy specs. The SQE collaborates with the suppliers to resolve quality issues and validate/verify supplier changes.

Responsibilities

• Analyze, summarize, and report vendor performance to management concerning incoming inspection and manufacturing production results. This includes Management Reviews and any other meetings as required.
• Coordinate with purchasing and suppliers the disposition of rejected/blocked stock Maintain supplier relationships and initiate actions to provide required supplier quality performance.
• Lead and Coordinate Quarterly Supplier Quality meetings.
• Collaborates with suppliers on CAPAs related to supplier quality issues.
• Conducts supplier audits and coordinates other assessments/surveys
• Support and work with Purchasing to implement, maintain, and update buy spec agreements with suppliers.
• Assists in validations and updates of new suppliers and supplier changes
• Active participant in the introduction of new suppliers/materials
• Work closely with Production, Procurement, Chemistry, Incoming, and other departments to ensure all supplier quality and supplier management activities are being met.
• Develop strategy to improve overall supplier quality metrics.
• Actively participate as a member of the Sumter Supplier Qualification Team (SQT)
• Serve as the main contact for communication with the Supplier Management Action Team (SMAT)
• Log and track CAPAs and CIRs for suppliers
• Pull data and draft memos as needed for the Supplier Quality Assessments requested by Compliance Team.
• Assist in completing NCMRs and Variances for non-conforming materials.
• Support Quarantine Cage – detail reports for Materials Control and Management

Minimum Requirement

• Degree level qualification; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
