Job summary

Applied Aerospace & Defense in Stockton, CA is hiring a Supplier Quality Engineer. You will ensure purchased products meet customer, regulatory, and internal quality requirements and partner with Purchasing and Program Engineering to drive supplier development and risk reduction.

You will conduct supplier audits, document results, manage corrective actions, and monitor quality metrics while supporting the overall Quality System. ITAR eligibility is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 5 years’ experience or a total of 10 years in related technology.
  • Strong knowledge of ASME Y14.5 GD&T and GD&T applications.
  • Experience with AS9100 or ISO QMS standards and NADCAP is a plus.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint; strong written and verbal communication.
  • ITAR eligibility is required for employment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary quality point of contact for assigned suppliers.
  • Plan, conduct, and document supplier audits, assessments, and surveillance activities.
  • Initiate, review, and approve supplier corrective actions with root cause analysis.
  • Drive resolution of supplier quality issues including nonconformances and deliveries.
  • Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and performance evaluation.
  • Monitor supplier quality metrics and lead improvement initiatives.
  • Review NCRs and present to the Corrective Action Board.
  • Support QA Director with the Quality System maintenance and implementation.

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

The Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring that purchased products and services meet all applicable customers, regulatory, and internal quality requirements. This role partners closely with Purchasing and Program Engineering to develop suppliers, manage risk, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.


ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Serve as the primary quality point of contact for assigned suppliers.

  • Plan, conduct, and document supplier audits, assessments, and surveillance activities

  • Initiate, review, and approve supplier corrective actions, including root cause analysis and effectiveness verification

  • Drive resolution of supplier quality issues, including nonconformances, escapes, and delivery-related concerns.

  • Support supplier qualification, onboarding, and periodic performance evaluation.

  • Monitor supplier quality metrics and lead improvement initiatives based on performance trends.

  • Review and present non-conformance reports (NCR) to the Corrective Action Board.

  • Support QA Director with maintenance and implementation of the overall Quality System.


GENERAL:


  • Good working knowledge of ASME Y14.5 (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing). Working knowledge of GD&T a plus.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • Understanding of AS9100 or ISO QMS standards and NADCAP special processes a plus.

  • Strong computer background, with knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Power Point.

  • Associate - entry level with limited college project experience.

  • General - level requires a bachelor’s degree plus 5 years’ experience or a total of 10 years’ experience in the related technology environment.

  • Senior level requires a bachelor’s degree plus 10 years’ experience or a total of 15 years’ experience in the related technology environment.
