Job summary

Axiom Path is assisting a global manufacturing organization in Columbus, Indiana to hire a Supplier Quality Engineer focused on improving supplier quality and product conformance.

This onsite role requires a bachelor’s degree in engineering, knowledge of APQP, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and supplier development, with about 15% travel to supplier sites.

Qualifications

  • Engineering, technical, or scientific bachelor's degree or equivalent degree required.
  • Intermediate-level professional experience in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, quality engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • Demonstrated experience resolving supplier or manufacturing quality problems through structured root-cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Working knowledge of APQP and supplier quality management practices.
  • Experience assessing supplier performance, process capability, and compliance with product requirements.
  • Understanding of quality-management systems and applicable industry or customer quality standards.
  • Ability to interpret and apply statistical concepts to quality and manufacturing problems.
  • Knowledge of dimensional metrology and inspection/measurement processes.
  • Strong communication, collaboration, decision-making, and supplier-influencing skills.
  • Experience with special manufacturing processes such as heat treating and coatings is strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage supplier quality performance and drive improvements that reduce defects and protect product quality.
  • Lead supplier corrective actions, including containment, root-cause analysis, corrective action, and prevention of recurrence.
  • Participate in supplier evaluation, selection, development, auditing, and performance management.
  • Ensure suppliers effectively apply appropriate quality tools and consistently meet technical and product requirements.
  • Support new and changed products through quality planning, supplier readiness, and launch activities.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives that strengthen supplier process capability and manufacturing performance.
  • Apply structured problem-solving and statistical methods to identify causes, evaluate data, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Support Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP), dimensional measurement practices, and quality-system requirements.
