Job summary

Orscheln Products, based in Missouri, seeks a quality supervisor to plan and direct activities with suppliers, joint ventures and partners to maintain quality standards for processes and products. You will support production and other departments on quality issues and drive audits and improvements across the organization.

The ideal candidate has a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience) and at least six years in quality and manufacturing, with supervisory and auditing experience

Qualifications

  • Bachelors degree preferred, will consider associates with applicable work experience.
  • Minimum of six (6) years experience in quality and manufacturing. Employee Supervisory experience preferred. Auditing experience preferred.
  • Communications skills, problem solving, analytical skills, time management and organization skills.
  • AIAG Core Tools knowledge and essential safety certifications (CPR/First Aid) are listed as valued qualifications.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and direct activities with supply base, strategic partners, joint ventures and acquisitions to develop, apply and maintain quality standards.
  • Assist quality personnel with daily quality requirements for production and support other departments and customers on quality issues.
  • Develop and implement inspection, testing and evaluation methods to meet customer requirements.
  • Drive process improvements to improve efficiency and overall quality of inspection methods.
  • Oversee supplier quality, vendor qualification and corrective actions with Purchasing.
  • Conduct quality audits and resolve non-conformances; support global product/process audits at joint ventures and acquisitions.
  • Create and deliver employee reviews and manage supervisory responsibilities.
  • Knowledge of IFS/Time confirmation and MRB delegation as part of quality leadership.

Summary

Plans and directs activities with supply base, strategic partners, joint ventures and acquisitions, concerned with the development, application and maintenance of quality standards for processes, materials and products. Assists quality personnel with daily quality requirements for production and provide support to other departments and customers as required on quality issues.

Preferred Educational Experience

Preferred Work Experience

Minimum of six (6) years experience in quality and manufacturing. Employee Supervisory experience preferred. Auditing experience preferred.

Essential Functions
  • Ability to perform all safety critical functions. The product must be built to the designated specs approved and cannot be deviated or substituted. The control, performance and tolerance are essential for the part to function so that it does not jeopardize public safety or it’s compliance with government regulations.
  • Must be able to recognize and call the critical characteristic symbols as listed on the blueprints.
  • Develop and implement methods and standards of inspection, testing, and evaluation to meet customer requirements.
  • Drive departmental process improvement to improve efficiency and overall quality of inspection methods.
  • Assist Purchasing in the development of a qualified vendor base and work with them to resolve quality issues.
  • Devise sampling procedures and related forms / instructions for recording, evaluating, and reporting quality and reliability data to American National Standard.
  • Assist the production teams on issues related to corrective and preventive actions.
  • Works closely with other departments to create liaison and channel information exchange. Job requirements are flexible and individual must be able to adapt to changing conditions.
  • Organize and implement quality audits, including resolution of non-conformances.
  • Support Global by performing audits on product and process at Joint Ventures, Strategic Partners and acquisitions.
  • Works closely with other departments to resolve quality issues with Suppliers.
  • Assist Purchasing in the development of a qualified vendor base and work with them to resolve quality issues.
  • Oversee Receiving Inspection Functions
  • Possess supervisor skills for interviewing, employee relations, IFS Time confirmation.
  • Create and deliver employee reviews.

  • Provides assistance with customer quotations by evaluating quality specifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
