Carter Machinery Company, Inc. is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer I to inspect generator packages, analyze nonconformances, and drive supplier corrective actions.

The role supports first article inspections and supplier qualification audits, contributing to continuous improvement across North America. The ideal candidate has a background in quality engineering, a engineering degree, and the flexibility to travel up to 50% for on-site verification and documentation activities.

Qualifications

• Previous experience in quality engineering.
• Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field preferred.
• Certification in quality methodologies (e.g., Six Sigma, ASQ) is a plus.
• Data analysis experience.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Excellent driving record.
• Willingness to travel at least 50% to various jobsites within North America as needed.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Inspect generator packages with team assistance and documentation resources.
• Evaluate nonconformance data in quality management system.
• Initiate supplier corrective action requests for severe and recurring nonconformances.
• Support first article inspections as a secondary auditor.
• Support supplier qualification audits through documentation collection and capturing Gemba observations.
• Pursue continuing education in new solutions, technologies, and skills.
• Work with the team to achieve Continuous Improvement goals and objectives.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Starting Compensation Range: $86,000 - $97,000 per year
