Job summary

PowerSecure is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) to support supplier quality management in line with design intent and PowerSecure requirements. You will verify supplier systems, participate in risk analysis, and drive continuous improvement across the supply base.

You will work with Purchasing and Engineering to ensure manufacturability and conformance, perform on-site audits, and lead root-cause analyses to prevent recurrence.

Qualifications

• BS degree in mechanical, electrical, or equivalent engineering.
• ASQ certification preferred.
• Minimum of 5 years of supplier quality engineering experience.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with purchasing and engineering to minimize risk and meet product conformance.
• Define process parameters with Engineering to ensure supplier process capability.
• Execute supplier quality functions including Advanced Quality Planning and continuous improvement.
• Review supplier qualification documents and conduct on-site audits.
• Monitor and analyze quality performance to drive KPI improvements.
• Lead RCA and quality improvement projects across departments.
• Travel to supplier sites up to ~50% to audit and verify corrective actions.

Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) aids Supplier Quality manager to help ensure
suppliers’ processes are in line with the design intent of PowerSecure and verify
supplier’s systems to ensure they are compliant with PowerSecure’s requirements. This includes on-going supply chain company verification and risk analysis.

A successful supplier quality engineer should have excellent troubleshooting skills and be able to ensure that processes and products continually improve to exceed established quality standards.

Minimum Qualifications: (Education, Experience, Knowledge, and Skills):

BS Degree in mechanical, electrical or equivalent engineering degree

ASQ certification preferred

Minimum of 5 years of experience in supplier quality engineering, quality
assurance, or a similar role

Strong communication and interpersonal skills

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

Excellent project management skills

Practical, hands‑on experience in supply chain development, qualifying and
developing suppliers.

Ability to read and interpret electrical and mechanical assembly drawings

Experience with fabrication or electrical switchgear components preferred

Experience with manufacturing ERP systems (SAP or IFS preferred)

Experience with Advanced Quality Planning tools such as PFMEA, Control
Plans, and MSA preferred

Experience with auditing and evaluating new suppliers preferred

Experience with evaluating and improving measurement systems

Expertise in in structured root cause analysis tools (8D, 5-Why, Red X, Ect)

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

Essential Functions

Supplier Quality Engineers will work closely with purchasing and engineering teams to ensure processes are in place to minimize risk and meet product conformance. Work with Engineering (Design and Manufacturing
Engineers) team to define process parameters and criteria to ensure supplier process capability is effective to meet product and process requirements.

Supplier Quality

• Execute PowerSecure Supplier Quality Functions. Including Advanced Quality Planning and Continuous Improvement
• Manages supplier qualification process, including reviewing and assessing suppliers’ qualification documents, and performs on‑site audits—assessing suppliers’ capabilities and capacity
• Monitoring and analyzing quality performance driving measurable improvement in defined KPIs.
• Improve new supplier introduction, qualification, technical evaluations, and approval processes
• Evaluates and makes recommendations on critical supplier selections, drives supplier continuous improvement processes and approves of supplier corrective actions
• Perform risk analysis to define incoming inspection requirements
• Support the Implementation of quality system changes and enhancements to drive manufacturing efficiencies, meet shipment commitments, and ensure internal and external customer satisfaction
• Drive “Right the First Time” mentality within the supply base.
• Work with the engineering team to review assembly specifications related to manufacturability
• Participate in internal quality system audits
• Represent and encourage a continuous improvement culture within the manufacturing team
• Travel to supplier sites to lead audits, perform process reviews, evaluate quality control practices, and validate corrective actions. Travel will include both continental Unted States and International with a majority being within driving distance of PowerSecure. Travel estimated to be 50%

Cross-Functional Leadership

• Ability to lead formal root cause and quality improvement projects with multiple departments
• Ability to present to upper management on metrics or quality projects
• Effective team player, who can work in varying team roles and actively collaborate with multiple departments

Cost out & Efficiency Improvements:

• Drive (measurable) reduction in supplier rejection, reduction of rework
• Drive in quality improvements to reduce the need for incoming inspection and in process verification of purchased products
