Whirlpool Corporation in Clyde, Ohio is seeking a Supplier Quality Engineer to join our onsite team. You will diagnose defects with suppliers, drive PPAP and 8D processes, and lead supplier improvement projects to prevent recurrence.

You will mentor the Supplier Quality group and collaborate across quality, process, and materials teams. This role offers hands-on leadership in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and requires flexibility for all shifts.

Formación

• Provide rapid response diagnostic services and initiate actions to address supplier-related issues.
• Drive CAL and Reliability evaluation processes.
• Validate and execute non-conforming part containment procedures and provide reports.
• Monitor line returns and non-conforming parts and take corrective actions with suppliers.
• Lead the corrective action process to completion.
• Develop and process kaizens to drive continuous improvement in addressing supplier quality-related issues.
• Provide leadership and training for the Supplier Quality organization.
• Support all Plant strategies, methodologies, and initiatives.
• Lead assigned supplier improvement projects and travel to supplier locations as necessary.
• Complete PPAPs for assigned suppliers and fully support new product introduction cost, quality, and model line projects.
• Work closely with quality and process engineers to support their needs.
• Work closely with suppliers to guide them through 8D problem solving and 8 Stages methodology as well as PPAP guidance.
• Work with other departments to problem solve.
• Identify problems with high PPM parts with quality engineers.

This Role In Summary

Whirlpool is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Supplier Quality Engineer. This is an onsite role at our Clyde, Ohio location. A Supplier Quality Engineer is responsible to work with various departments and suppliers, to diagnose root causes of defects and take the actions necessary to rectify the defect(s) internally and with our supply base. Serve in the lead role to assure that assigned suppliers fully comply with PPAP (Production Part Approval Process) and 8D (Eight Disciplines) processes. Duties also include assisting the department leadership team with essential functions and daily activities, as required. Will report directly to the Supplier Quality Engineering group. Must be available for all shifts.

Your Responsibilities Will Include

• Develop and maintain strong product knowledge.
• Provide Rapid Response diagnostic services and initiate appropriate actions to address supplier-related assembly line issues.
• Drive CAL and Reliability evaluation processes.
• Validate and execute non-conforming part containment procedures and provide reports.
• Monitor line returns and non-conforming parts and take the proper corrective actions with assigned suppliers.
• Drive the corrective action process to completion.
• Develop and process kaizens to drive continuous improvement in addressing supplier quality-related issues. Support SQE (Supplier Quality Engineering) group on assigned supplier improvement projects.
• Provide leadership and training for Supplier Quality organization.
• Provide Quality Engineering support for trial runs.
• Support all Plant strategies, methodologies, and initiatives.
• Lead assigned supplier improvement projects and travel to supplier locations as necessary to evaluate issues.
• Complete PPAPs for assigned suppliers and fully support new product introduction cost, quality, and model line projects.
• Work closely with quality and process engineers to support their needs
• Work closely with suppliers to guide them through 8D problem solving and 8 Stages methodology as well as PPAP guidance.
• Work closely with other departments (materials & support) to problem solve.
• Work with quality engineers to identify problems with high PPM parts

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree
• 1+ years of experience in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Skills And Experiences

• Prior experience with administrative responsibilities
• Experience working with Electronic components

• Excellent organizational and time-management abilities
• Attention to detail
• Proficient computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, and Excel), and an Adept at the use of Google Suite; Sheets, Docs and Slides
• Excellent interpersonal/communication skills
• Proven leadership abilities
• Proven ability to plan, organize, and prioritize tasks
• All required WCM (World Class Manufacturing) Quality Tool Certifications, particularly 8D Problem Solving and Kaizen methodology
• BluePrint and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) experience or training
• Able to use advanced shop mathematics, read highly complicated drawings, use a variety of measuring devices, and broad use of specialized training
