Job summary

Akkodis is seeking a Supplier Engineer II for a contract role in Carlsbad, CA. The position focuses on evaluating and applying standard engineering techniques while liaising between Sourcing and other groups to resolve supply chain issues.

The role requires a Bachelors in engineering with 3+ years in supplier/manufacturing operations, and 2-4 years in supplier engineering; travel up to 15% is expected. This defined-term contract runs through mid-2028 and pays $42–$45 per hour.

Qualifications

Bachelors degree in engineering with minimum 3 years of supplier and/or manufacturing operations experience.
Supplier Engineering experience 2-4 years; medical device experience preferred.
Experience in supplier relationship and/or purchased component management.
Strong engineering fundamentals (LEAN, Six Sigma, DFM, statistical methods) and problem-solving skills.
Cross functional teamwork in a technically demanding environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel 10-15% globally.

Responsibilities

Participate in large-scale projects or sub-workstreams under guidance from senior engineering staff; use Windchill and supplier engineering procedures.
Collaborate with cross functional teams to qualify and improve supplier processes; plan and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work.
Interface with suppliers with support from commodity team members to investigate material issues or supply constraints.
Perform material investigations to address root causes for defective components; support investigations within the supply base.
Coordinate supply base Notifications of Change and implement supplier changes in the Quality Management System.

Job description

Akkodis is seeking a for a Supplier Engineer II at Location: Carlsbad, CA for a contract Duration: 12+Months.

Pay Range: $42/h- $45/h; The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

About the role:

Supplier Engineer II will evaluate, select, and apply standard engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria, using judgment in making minor adaptations and modifications. Assignments have clear and specified objectives and require the investigation of a limited number of variables. This role will serve as the liaison between Sourcing and other groups in resolving problems encountered in the supply chain.

Note:

This is a defined-term position expected to conclude by mid-2028.

Your responsibilities will include:

Participate in large-scale projects or sub-workstreams under guidance from senior engineering staff; use all relevant business tools & Core Supplier Engineering procedures including Material Qualification activities and all required Windchill activity
Participate in project teams cooperating with cross functional team members to qualify and improve supplier processes; plan, schedule, conduct, or coordinate detailed phases of the engineering work in a part of a major project
Interface with suppliers with support from commodity team members to drive investigation of supplied material issues or supply constraints
Execute material investigations to determine and address the root cause for defective components; support material investigations where defects in supplied materials are identified within the supply base
Oversee and coordinate supply base Notifications of Change; demonstrate proficiency in using the Supplier Change Impact Assessment process to implement supplier related changes in the relevant Quality Management System

Required qualifications:

Bachelors degree in engineering with minimum 3 years of supplier and/or manufacturing operations experience
Supplier Engineering experience needed. 2-4 years. Med device experience required.
Experience in supplier relationship and/or purchased component management.
Demonstrated engineering fundamentals (LEAN , Six Sigma, DFM, statistical methods etc.) and problem-solving skills.
Demonstrated cross functional teamwork in a technically demanding environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to travel 10-15% globally.

Preferred qualifications:

Bachelors Degree in Electrical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent.
Neuromodulation-specific supplier and/or manufacturing engineering experience
Prior experience in medical device industry or similar highly-regulated industry
Self-starter with strong problem solving and critical thinking skills
Effective communication and presentation skills
