Job summary

Inteva Products, Auburn Hills Operations, is seeking a Quality Engineer to lead supplier quality activities and coordinate PPAP and APQP processes with suppliers and internal teams.

The role requires a Bachelor’s degree and 3+ years in automotive quality, with strong problem-solving and communication skills. Travel may be required, and the position is based in Auburn Hills, MI.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a technical field.
• 3+ years proven Quality Engineer experience, automotive preferred.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Understanding of basic manufacturing/assembly processes.
• Familiarity with PPAP, Control plans, PFMEA, PFDs, Gage R&R, Run at Rate, operator instructions, IMDS.

Responsibilities

• Review supplier submission packages (19-point PPAP) for compliance and accuracy.
• Coordinate PPAP approval activities with suppliers, Inteva cross-functional teams and customers.
• Coordinate quality assessments with suppliers, report and close audit findings/non-conformances.
• Lead cross-functional supplier meetings to ensure Inteva and customer requirements are met.
• Guide suppliers to develop quality strategies and drive continuous improvement.
• Coordinate supplier process audits, run at rate verifications, control plan audits and PFMEA reviews.

Job description

• Review supplier submission packages 19-point PPAP, ensuring requirement compliance and accuracy
• Coordinate activities for PPAP approval with supplier, Inteva cross-functional teams and customers
• Coordinate quality and capability assessments when required with suppliers, including reporting, follow-up and closure of audit findings and non-conformances
• Lead cross-functional supplier meetings/reviews as needed to ensure Inteva and customer requirements are met
• Guide suppliers when necessary to develop quality strategies to improve quality system implementation, utilizing continuous improvement and problem-solving techniques
• Coordinate supplier process audits, run at rate verifications, control plan audits and PFMEA reviews, special processes evaluations when required
• Support and coordinate engineering changes related to suppliers with the Auburn Hills plant
• Define/determine customer quality requirements with suppliers
• Participate with the PDT/Launch team on APQP activities for suppliers
• Interface with team members, customers and suppliers on a regular basis
• Provide technical problem-solving, root cause analysis, and develop/issue corrective action (Problem Cases) for defects
• Coordinate product dimension verification/analysis and provide dimensional information when required from the supplier
• Manage incoming inspection of supplier parts as required
• Coordinate Quality sorting, supplier RMA and supplier 8D/corrective actions as necessary

Position Requirements

REQUIRED

• Prior proven Quality Engineer experience, 3+ years in automotive desired
• High level of analytical ability with emphasis on problem solving and root cause analysis
• Highly motivated to attain work objectives and self-starter
• Excellent organization and planning skills
• High level of interpersonal skills
• Excellent oral and written communication skills
• Knowledge of basic manufacturing and assembly processes
• Knowledge of basic Quality tools: PPAP, Control plans, PFMEA’s, PFD’s, Gage R& Rs, Run at Rate, Operator instructions and IMDS
• Knowledge of GM Quality requirements
• Ability to learn and navigate through Plex and Covisint
• Must be able to travel when required
• 5+ years’ industrial/manufacturing experience (Preferred)
• Knowledge of statistical process control procedures (Preferred)
• Knowledge of AIAG, IATF and APQP (Preferred)
• Formal problem-solving experience: Shainin, Six Sigma, etc (Preferred)
• Knowledge of vehicle interior parts, assemblies and related part constructions and/or designs (Preferred)
