  • Proven experience interacting with a wide range of stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset with knowledge of 8D, PDCA, RCA, Kaizen events and process mapping.
  • Ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge accepted by others.
  • Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to support and implement practical solutions, while remaining open to ideas of others.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured problem resolution activities at key strategic suppliers.
  • Train and coach suppliers in structured problem resolution methodology.
  • Facilitate Supplier Quality Improvement workshops.
  • Build relationships with supplier leadership teams to influence improvement activities within the supplier and promote continuous improvement.
  • Collect and analyse data on suppliers’ performance to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Share learning and good practices across the supply chain.
  • Review supplier development requests and create a Supplier Quality Delivery Charter with scope, method, resources and milestones.
  • Deliver the quality improvement activity within agreed timescales and budget.
  • Conduct effectiveness reviews to confirm demonstrable improvement and identify further actions.

About the Opportunity

Hinkley Point C (HPC) is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years, HPCs two EPR reactors will be capable of generating 3.26GW of secure, low carbon electricity for 60 years, enough electricity to power around 6 million homes. The role of the Supplier Quality Development Leader (SDL) is to deliver improvements in the supply chain quality performance for the HPC & SZC projects.

The primary responsibility of the SDL is to respond to requests for supplier development support by completing a supplier quality delivery charter, developing a supplier quality improvement plan as required, and coordinating the improvement through to completion.

Role Responsibilities
  • To lead structured problem resolution activities at key strategic suppliers.

  • Share learning & good practices across the supply chain.
  • To review supplier development requests and create a Supplier Quality Delivery Charter to define the problem, outline the method to be adopted, bound the scope, and identify resources and milestones to enable a successful delivery of the improvement.
  • To deliver the quality improvement activity within the agreed timescales and budget.
  • Conduct an effectiveness review to confirm that a demonstrable improvement has been achieved and recommend any further improvements.
Qualifications - External
  • Leadership experience managing multi disciplined teams (MDTs).
  • Business improvement practitioner with a proven track record of delivering supplier development projects in a manufacturing operational environment.
  • Qualification in an Engineering discipline, Degree/ HNC / HND, (or lower if combined with experience).
  • Proven experience of interaction and resolving issues with a wide range of internal & external stakeholders in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Continuous Improvement mindset with a sound knowledge of improvement techniques including 8D, PDCA, root cause analysis (RCA), Kaizen events and process mapping.
  • The ability to influence and to provide constructive challenge which is accepted by others.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Able to support and implement practical solutions, whilst remaining open to the ideas of others.
