Job summary

Kia Georgia is seeking an Assistant Manager, Supplier Quality Engineer, Assembly QC to oversee supplier quality and ensure the highest standards for parts supplied to Kia vehicles.

You will lead improvement projects, manage KPI tracking, and coordinate with internal teams and suppliers to ensure quality goals are met.

Qualifications

  • Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial or Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering and Management, or related field.
  • 3 years’ progressive experience in a quality assurance role in the automotive industry.
  • Foreign equivalents accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Review current internal and external quality indicators and ensure the quality of parts provided by suppliers.
  • Lead special projects with suppliers to achieve positive results to Quality KPIs.
  • Monitor and investigate concerns related to internal and external quality indicators and drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis and countermeasures.
  • Communicate quality concerns to internal teams and suppliers and improve inspection processes.
  • Initiate and complete reports tracking KPIs.
  • Provide feedback on quality concerns to suppliers and internally to improve part and vehicle quality.
  • Participate in forecasting and forward planning for supplier changes and new model launches.

General Summary

This position is responsible for reviewing current internal and external quality indicators and ensuring the quality of parts provided by suppliers, lead special projects with suppliers to achieve positive results to Quality Key Performance Indicators.

Essential duties and Responsibilities

Manage quality and related practices in supplier quality management and new model process development to meet company goals. Monitor and investigate concerns related to internal and external quality indicators and drive continuous improvement through root cause analysis of concerns and develop short-term and long term countermeasures. Communicate internal and external quality concerns to other departments and improve the inspection process of those concerns. Initiate and complete reports tracking Key Performance Indicators as required. Provide feedback on quality concerns to suppliers as well as internally, in order to improve part and vehicle quality levels. Participate in forecasting and forward planning activities for supplier changes, part changes and management of new model launches.

Qualifications/Education

Master’s or Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Industrial or Electrical Engineering, Quality Engineering and Management, or related field. Foreign equivalents accepted.

Job Requirement

3 years’ progressive experience (or 5 years with Bachelor’s degree) in a quality assurance role in the automotive industry.

Position requires travel to different suppliers to review process and apply supplier quality audits to their process, travel at least 2 times per month and sometimes need to travel outside the country on average 4 times per year.

Specialized Skills and Knowledge Required

Must include some experience with:

  • Root cause analysis of quality concerns
  • Supplier process improvement through statistical analysis.
  • Coordination of internal/external corrective actions for processes or part quality concerns
  • SAP or Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems
  • Implementation of Six sigma methodology
  • Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)/Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP)
  • Control Plan and Process Failure Modes and Effect Analysis (PFMEA) review and approval.
  • Geometrical Dimensions & Tolerance
  • Building Management Systems as implemented in automotive manufacturing
